Onboarding and offboarding

Getting started
New customers can get up and running with CyCognito quickly, without the need for any software installation or additional hardware. The process begins with secure access to the cloud-based CyCognito portal, where users can log in through a modern web browser.

Once logged in, the platform immediately starts discovering internet-facing assets, including unknown or unmanaged systems, and attributes them to relevant business units to provide contextualised insights. Customers can optionally define specific asset groups, departments, or priorities to help focus the platform on the areas of greatest concern.

Within days, CyCognito performs active security testing to identify vulnerabilities, attack paths, and exposures that could be exploited, generating actionable, prioritised reports. Users can customise dashboards, alerts, and reports to align with internal processes, compliance requirements, or regulatory frameworks such as DORA or STAR-FS.

CyCognito also integrates with existing enterprise tools, including SIEM, ITSM, CMDB, and collaboration platforms, to automate workflows, ticketing, and alerting.

From the outset, customers benefit from continuous monitoring, ensuring the external attack surface is always up to date. With intuitive dashboards, clear remediation guidance, and API access for advanced automation, CyCognito enables organisations to gain immediate visibility, prioritise risk, and respond efficiently to external threats.

End-of-contract data extraction
When a CyCognito subscription concludes, customers maintain full control over their data and can extract it before account deactivation. The platform provides built-in export functions that allow users to download key information, including asset inventories, vulnerabilities, attack surface maps, and historical findings. Exports are available in widely used formats such as CSV, JSON, and PDF, enabling teams to archive data, perform audits, or integrate it into other internal systems.

For organisations requiring large-scale data extraction or automated workflows, the CyCognito API offers a programmatic option. Through the API, teams can retrieve all discovered assets, associated vulnerabilities, business context, and enrichment data, ensuring comprehensive access to all platform insights.

CyCognito typically allows a grace period before account deactivation, during which customers can complete exports and ensure all critical information is securely retrieved. During this time, users can: export dashboards and reports, download detailed findings, retrieve historical trends, and automate extraction through API calls.

Once data has been exported, customers can store it within internal systems for compliance, auditing, or ongoing security initiatives. This process ensures continuity, preserves organisational intelligence, and supports future risk management, even after the CyCognito service has ended.
End-of-contract process
At the conclusion of a CyCognito contract, customers are provided with a defined grace period to ensure a smooth transition. During this time, users can access the platform to export all data, including asset inventories, vulnerabilities, attack surface maps, dashboards, and historical findings. Exports can be completed via the platform’s built-in export functions or through the API for large-scale or automated data retrieval. Once the grace period ends, the account is deactivated and any remaining data on CyCognito’s servers is securely deleted in line with data retention and security policies. Exported data can then be stored and used independently for compliance, auditing, or ongoing security programmes.

The standard contract price includes access to the cloud-based CyCognito platform, continuous discovery of external assets, active security testing, prioritised risk reporting, dashboards, alerts, export functionality, standard integrations with SIEM, ITSM, and CMDB systems, and platform support including onboarding.

Additional costs may apply for advanced or custom integrations, extra user seats beyond the contracted number, professional services such as consultancy or custom reporting, and optional API usage above the agreed limits. This ensures organisations can tailor their subscription while maintaining clear visibility of what is included in the base price.

API
Yes
What users can and can't do using the API
CyCognito’s API allows security teams to integrate external attack surface insights directly into their existing workflows and tools. Users can programmematically access discovered assets, vulnerabilities, and remediation guidance, enabling automated reporting and risk tracking. The API supports integrations with SIEM, ITSM, and CMDB systems, allowing findings to flow seamlessly into incident response and ticketing processes. Teams can trigger scans, retrieve updated risk data, and monitor changes in their attack surface without using the GUI. This flexibility enables organisations to automate risk management, prioritise remediation, and maintain continuous visibility across all external-facing assets at scale.

Customisation available
Yes
Description of customisation
CyCognito tailors its external attack surface management services to meet the unique needs of each organisation. From the outset, the platform automatically discovers all internet-facing assets, including unknown or unmanaged infrastructure, and attributes ownership to specific business units, providing contextualised insights rather than generic findings. Security teams can prioritise vulnerabilities based on business impact, exploitability, and organisational risk appetite, ensuring attention is focused where it matters most.

Scaling

Independence of resources
The tool scans only the IP address the organisation provides to Cycognito therefore it cannot cross information. CyCognito uses a cloud-based, multi-tenant architecture with dynamic resource allocation, load balancing, and auto-scaling to ensure consistent performance for all users. Each customer’s data and processing are isolated, so high demand from other organisations does not impact your access, scans, or alerts. Continuous monitoring and task prioritisation ensure timely insights and reliable service.

Metrics types
CyCognito provides a comprehensive set of service metrics to help organisations monitor and manage their EASM. Metrics include total discovered assets, vulnerability counts, and risk prioritisation scores highlighting the highest-risk exposures. The platform tracks attack paths, remediation progress, and historical trends in asset exposure. Compliance-related metrics align findings with regulatory frameworks such as DORA and STAR-FS. Additional metrics cover integration activity, scan coverage, and alerts or notifications, ensuring teams can monitor new or high-priority risks. Delivered via customisable dashboards, automated reports, and API feeds, these metrics enable organisations to measure risk reduction, remediation effectiveness, and continuous attack surface visibility.

Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
Minimum is 99.5% guaranteed. excluding planned downtime for scheduled maintenance, force majeure, third‑party infrastructure, or customer network issues
Approach to resilience
CyCognito is a cloud-native SaaS platform designed to provide high availability, reliability, and operational resilience for organisations managing their external attack surface. The platform’s architecture is built to ensure continuous service delivery even under heavy demand, component failures, or network disruptions.

Resiliency is achieved through multi-region cloud infrastructure, which supports redundancy and failover, ensuring the platform remains operational if one region experiences an outage. Load balancing and auto-scaling dynamically allocate computing resources, preventing performance degradation during periods of high activity. Each customer environment is logically isolated, so incidents affecting one tenant do not impact others.

Customer data is encrypted at rest and in transit, with regular backups and secure key management enabling recovery in case of accidental deletion or system failure. Continuous monitoring and proactive alerting detect anomalies or disruptions in real time, while established incident response processes ensure rapid remediation.

Additional measures, such as secure API access, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access controls, further enhance resilience by preventing unauthorized access and maintaining operational continuity.

In summary, CyCognito combines cloud redundancy, secure data handling, continuous monitoring, and tenant isolation to provide a resilient and dependable service, enabling organisations to maintain visibility and control over their external attack surface without interruptions.
