Fighting climate change

Pace are committed to ensuring that the environmental impact of our operations is as minimal as possible. Pace was founded with a commitment to make sustainability a foundation of our operation and our internal processes and practices.

Our approach to sustainability is a core element of onboarding and training for all Pace employees and forms part of their ongoing performance monitoring and we confirm that we have environmental and sustainability policies and accreditations in line with UK legislation and that we adhere to them.

All members of our project teams have a responsibility and an influence on the sustainability of a project and this focus forms a core component of team onboarding and ongoing monitoring. As part of an engagement team’s regular reviews and emphasis on continuous improvement, sustainability will be an area we look to enhance in line with targets, lessons learned and best practice.

Examples of our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and sustainability include remote first working, minimising travel requirements, encouraging ‘green’ travel options, tree planting initiatives, Pace Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, annual 3% profit donation to charity, electric car scheme, operations from a co-work space (not own office space), pro-bono consulting services (including environmental and climate tech organisations).

We recognise the importance of carbon reduction plans to major government contracts and the UK Government’s target of at least a 100% reduction in net UK carbon by 2050.

Pace are familiar with the Procurement Policy Notice (PPN) relating to Carbon Reduction Plans and we are committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050 for our UK Operations.

Pace has a Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) published on our website with a baseline year of 2023 and we have a clear roadmap to achieve our target.

Covid-19 recovery

Pace has extensive experience of working with both organisations and individuals to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 both during when the pandemic hits and afterwards during recovery. We have proven experience, technologies and ways of working that ensure we can continue delivery if Covid-19 strikes. Also, we have in place the policies and approaches that can help support organisations, communities and individuals sustainably recover from a Covid-19 occurrence.

Tackling economic inequality

We confirm that we would work to support customers within the G Cloud 14 framework and beyond to tackle economic inequality throughout the life of the contract.
Through engagements within the framework and beyond, we would endeavour to support job creation and upskilling, drive a thriving local supply chain and increased spend in the local communities.

The most direct way of doing this would be through selecting and building project and engagement teams from the local area. We would also be able to support the development of in-house programme teams, through coaching and specialist training, and introduce best practice and idea sharing.

There is also an opportunity to provide broader community benefit, working in partnership with local schools and local community and volunteering groups.

Equal opportunity

Our DE&I strategy is to sustainably nurture an environment where everyone thrives, by being diverse, equitable and inclusive by instinct and action. We believe that everyone is unique and brings their own backgrounds, skills and perspectives. We represent different age groups, socio-economic backgrounds, faiths, beliefs, sexuality and levels of physical and mental health.

To gain the benefits of this diversity – for the individual, organisation and client – we are working to further develop and embed a DE&I culture where everyone feels comfortable being themselves and voicing their own opinions and ideas. We create a workplace culture which encourages and enables our team to thrive.

In line with the Government’s Social Value model this would be geared to aspects such as:

• Working to increase the representation of disabled people in the workforce.
• Support disabled people in developing new skills relevant to the contract.
• Identifying and tackling inequality in employment, skills and pay in the contract workforce.
• Where possible supporting in-work progression to help people, including those from disadvantaged or minority groups, to move into higher paid work by developing new skills relevant to the contract.

Wellbeing

Pace, despite being in its fourth year, has an established wellbeing program that is delivered for the benefit of our employees. Its a multi-faceted approach that covers such aspects such as mental and physical health, community and charitable work to ensure that our employees are both professionally and personally fulfilled where possible. This is highlighted by our partnering with a charity (Charlie Waller) which supports mental wellbeing. Not only do we raise money for the charity, we also encourage our colleagues to attend the Charlie Waller seminars to look after their own mental wellbeing. To demonstrate our people-focussed efforts, Pace were delighted to receive industry recognition at the Business Culture Awards 2023: WINNER, Best Small Organisation (50-250 employees). Where possible we also endeavour to extend our wellbeing and cultural approach to those clients and teams that we partner with.
