- Service constraints
- Splunk AppDynamics requires supported agents for monitored applications, operating systems and frameworks. Certain features depend on cloud connectivity to the AppDynamics SaaS controller. Scheduled maintenance windows may apply to the SaaS platform, with advance notice provided. On-prem or private-cloud deployments require appropriate infrastructure capacity and database provisioning. Some advanced capabilities, such as Business iQ or Cloud Native Observability integrations, may require additional licensing or configuration. Performance data retention varies by edition. Service availability may depend on third-party cloud providers when monitoring multi-cloud workloads. Custom instrumentation may be required for legacy or unsupported technologies.

- End-of-contract data extraction
- At the end of the contract, users can extract their data from Splunk AppDynamics using built-in export tools. Performance metrics, configuration data, dashboards, and analytics outputs can be downloaded from the web interface or retrieved programmatically through the REST API. Data export formats vary by component and commonly include CSV, JSON, and PDF. Customers are responsible for initiating and completing data extraction before service closure. After the contract ends, any remaining data is deleted according to Splunk’s standard data-retention and security policies. Support is available to advise customers on the extraction process.
- End-of-contract process
-
At the end of the contract, users retain access to Splunk AppDynamics until the contract expiry date. During this period, customers can export their data using the web interface or REST API. After the contract ends, access is removed and any remaining data is securely deleted in accordance with Splunk’s standard data-retention and security policies. Customers are responsible for completing all data-extraction activities before service closure.
Included in the contract price is continued access until the contract end date, standard support for offboarding queries, data export capabilities, and secure deletion of remaining data. Additional costs may apply for extended access beyond expiry, dedicated offboarding support, large-scale data migrations, or professional services. Customers may choose to renew, change licence tiers, or fully exit the service at contract end. - Documentation accessibility standard

- Differences between the mobile and desktop service
- The mobile app provides streamlined access to alerts, health status, and key performance dashboards, optimised for smaller screens. It supports push notifications and incident monitoring. However, advanced functions—such as deep diagnostics, instrumentation, configuration, agent management, and detailed analytics—are only available through the desktop web interface. The mobile app is primarily designed for visibility and alerting, not configuration.
- Service interface
- No
- User support accessibility
- None or don’t know
- API
- Yes
- What users can and can't do using the API
-
Splunk AppDynamics provides a comprehensive REST API that enables users to automate configuration, retrieve metrics, manage alerts, and integrate external systems. Through the API, users can create and modify health rules, dashboards, policies, and alerting configurations. They can query performance data, transaction snapshots, analytics events, and application health status. The API also allows integration with CI/CD pipelines, ITSM systems, monitoring tools, and event-processing platforms.
Users cannot perform certain administrative operations—such as licensing changes, controller-level upgrades, or internal SaaS platform configuration—through the API. Setup requires API credentials with appropriate role-based permissions. - API documentation

- Customisation available
- Yes
- Description of customisation
-
Splunk AppDynamics provides extensive customisation options to align monitoring with each organisation’s applications, infrastructure, and business needs. Users can customise dashboards, alerts, health rules, business transactions, service flows, and analytics queries. They can create custom dashboards, defining custom metrics, and user-specific layouts. Alert thresholds, policies, and anomaly detection rules can be modified to match operational requirements.
Customisation can be done through the web interface or via the REST API. Permissions are role-based: administrators can configure global settings, dashboards, agents, and policies; power users can customise dashboards, analytics, and alerting; standard users can personalise views and reports.
