1. Understand the requirements, both technical and business
2. Analyse tools, asset sources, gaps
3. Discover all IT assets in the current data centre or in the cloud
4. Use tools to understand the business services that the assets currently support
5. Use tools to assist in deciding which cloud vendor is the most cost-effective
6. Use tools to assist in migrating from the data centre to a cloud service or between cloud providers
7. Use tools to maintain the security and cost-effectiveness of the chosen cloud provider
