Typically support is based upon a standard subscription model unless a customer requests a higher level of support and this is at an extra cost if achievable. Users can download the 1Place software from the Amazon Marketplace with a one-click install or request a trial 30-day copy for Azure and install it on their cloud servers. There is a range of help provided to the user either through hands-on knowledge transfer, end-user training, online training and user playbooks showing how to migrate specific databases and use the 1Place tool. Pre-sales support is provided and UK office hours support is available within the first 30 day trial period.

Once their subscription ends the software will be rendered obsolete. There is no capturing or storing of dataas this is kept in the host cloud either Azure or Amazon AWS
End-of-contract process
The software is based on a 12-month subscription term license or pay as you use by the hour. These are accessible from AWS and Azure. What is not included in the price is the cloud hosting, database licenses, configuration, onsite support and bespoke requirements and consultancy engagement such as migration assessments and planning or post go-live consultancy.

Independence of resources
1Place is a cloud-based solution and is independently provisioned and sized depending upon the database environment to be migrated. It is scaled either vertically (large complex database, one at a time) by adding more compute power to the host server or horizontally (many databases at once in parallel) by purchasing more 1Place subscriptions per database or for a few databases. This means that migrations can be accelerated much faster by applying more resources or subscriptions and are not throttled by external users.

Availability and resilience

We follow the SLAs provided by AWS and Azure for the availability of the servers that the 1Place Software is installed on. If the software fails we adhere to the refund policy of the cloud provider. If the 1Place software is at fault we operate a credit system which is multiplayer of the software downtime experienced.
Approach to resilience
We adhere to the resilience policies of the cloud providers (Amazon and Azure) that the users are migrating their databases to. The cloud servers that the 1Place software is installed on will be provided by the user's own cloud platform and therefore it is the user's responsibility that the servers or cloud providers meet the level of resilience required.
Outage reporting
Yes if the database synchronisation fails alerts are produced via a dashboard and can also be emailed to the user. A real-time dashboard displays the in-play database migrations showing the migration process and any faults are immediately visible. 1Place is also fully integrated with monitoring solutions such as Amazon Cloudwatch and inherits the alerting functionality contained in Cloud Watch and other software packages can use the 1Place API for seamless monitoring.

At 1Place we use Github for configuration management and change management (version control). Github is used as a code repository and version control tool for the 1Place code base, as well as infrastructure configuration management. There are two main methodologies when checking in code, feature branches and single trunk. Feature branches allow our developers to check-in code simultaneously and merge in changes made from a single feature branch. Single trunk follows the idea that all checked in changes have been through a thorough battery of tests to ensure the code is always in a deployable state.

We are able to use Amazon AWS Inspector and Azure Security Manager for continuous and automated vulnerability management of our cloud servers and Amazon marketplace listing. When Security patches are identified by either vendors, our own software developers or by Cloud provided tools patches are applied as soon as tested under a P1 ticket. Emergency Change Management requests are discussed in a Change Advisory Board. 1Place is cyber essentials certified and has a vulnerability management process documented in our Information Security Management Policy.
