- How the training service works
- As an expert IT services provider we provide IT training, including cloud software and hosting services. At the core of all of our service delivery is close working with the client’s team. We pride ourselves on “going the extra mile” to ensure that we take every opportunity to ensure that our expertise is shared with the client staff so that our contribution is embedded and continues to add value long after the end of the assignment. Every client will have different needs so the first step will usually be a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) exercise. We would consider the outputs of the TNA jointly with the client to determine the best way for the client to meet the identified requirements for training, including the most effective and value for money approaches for the client for delivering the training. We can undertake or support training in a number of areas such as: Specialist training for architects, developers, and testers; training for support staff working to maintain the service in production including operating the service desk and incident and problem management and end user training.

Fighting climate change
Fighting Climate Change
Gemserv is a purpose driven, B-Corp accredited organisation with a dedicated low carbon business unit. Accordingly, fighting climate change and promoting environmental and sustainability principles are embedded within our culture and practices as an organisation, as well as how we deliver our engagements and contracts with our clients. For example:
• Gemserv has achieved CarbonNeutral® status and is certified to have met a target for zero emissions in accordance with the CarbonNeutral Protocol and aligned to the Science Based Targets Initiative methodology.
• Gemserv allow 1 extra day of annual leave to for staff to take low carbon transport rather than air travel.
• Gemserv support a salary sacrifice scheme for EVs and bikes through the cycle-to-work scheme to encourage staff
• 100% of Gemserv’s office waste is recycled or used to generate energy with none to landfill.
• We continue to demand more from our supply-chain, such as removing single use plastic from the products we buy and using 100% recycled paper.
• Gemserv are an accredited B-Corp with a score of 103.4 including a strong score of 11.3 for environment.
• Gemserv has a dedicated ESG committee tasked with monitoring and improving our ESG initiatives, including carbon reduction.
• The emissions Gemserv have not been able to avoid as a business have been offset by a solar project in East Asia.
Gemserv’s environmental credentials will minimise the impact of the delivery of the contract on the environment and in terms of carbon emissions. We would for example, prioritise remote working and low carbon travel options for face-to face meetings. We would share information on our estimated carbon consumption with our clients and seek to deliver carbon impact of close to zero.Covid-19 recovery
Gemserv is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of our staff through the covid-19 pandemic as well as contributing to the economic recovery of people and businesses right across the UK. To support the recovery from the pandemic we have:
• Hired one apprentice within the last year, and currently working to use our apprenticeship levy pledge to support local businesses with apprentices.
• All Gemserv staff are entitled to take advantage of flexible and hybrid working policies including 3 days remote working, and our ‘work from anywhere’ policy to enable employees to manage work/life balance and maintain social distancing during the pandemic.
• Gemserv have a company profile across the UK, with offices in Birmingham and London, are expanding further, creating more job opportunities within Gemserv, employing new graduates and individuals with different backgrounds from across the country.
• All Gemserv staff have one day’s volunteering leave in the community.
• Hired one intern from a disadvantaged background for a 6 month internship through the I have a voice charity
Gemserv will continue to be committed to supporting job creation, and supporting people and communities adversely impacted by covid-19. We have and will continue to work with our supply chain across the country to deliver more opportunities to collaborate on contracts where appropriate and support their recovery from the pandemic.
We will continue to work with disadvantaged people to expand our offer further and bring in talent from a wide range of communities and places, involving them on the contracts we win and, in the process, helping to address the adverse social and economic impacts of the pandemic in the process.Tackling economic inequality
Gemserv are committed to promoting the development of our staff and tackling workplace inequality. Gemserv have:
• 9 Internships/placements across 2023 and 8 planned for 2024, with 2 placements supporting a University programme targeted at socio-economically disadvantaged or disabled students.
• Received Investors in People Gold certification
• Achieved B-Corp certification highlighting our commitment to the highest standards of ESG.
• Delivered 50training sessions in 2023 , with 54% of staff undertaking development opportunities in 2023
• For the FY 2023 18 employees (9% of the business) were on Structured Career Development Plans. This forms part of our Talent Management Programme to develop relevant skills and progress our employees’ careers
Each contract will allow Gemserv to expand the development for our staff, as well as providing much needed support to programmes Gemserv has invested in to expand opportunities for disadvantaged people. Where possible, we would seek to involve our graduates, apprentices, or Kickstart employees through the contract and support our staff to engage with mentoring schemes to support their development.
We have a diverse supply chain, and as an SME ourselves, Gemserv have an extensive network of partners and suppliers. Like us, a significant proportion of our partners and suppliers are also SME’s based right across the UK and Northern Ireland. Ensuring that our supply chain, our activities and that our data and the data of our clients are secure is a priority for Gemserv. We have a dedicated cyber-security consultancy, full of experienced professional consultants who support our clients and our business to stay secure.
• We are Cyber Essentials Plus accredited and have specific cyber liability insurance worth £5,000,000.Equal opportunity
Gemserv are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion through our practices and policies as a business and through delivery of our contracts. These values are core to our culture as a company, and we have taken material steps to ensure these are at the heart of what we do. For example:
• We operate in adherence to our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) initiative, which enshrines and supports the organisation’s aim for a physically and culturally diverse workforce.
