• How the planning service works: Planning services will vary dependent on whether the database solution is a new build or a migration of a legacy database.; For a new build an initial discovery phase will define the scope of the solution and capture initial requirements. Specific data requirements will inform the data architecture of the solution. The type of database will be selected based upon the workload and requirements. Existing software license investment may also impact the infrastructure design if an organisation brings its own licenses to the cloud solution. All non-functional requirements will be captured which will also inform design activity. The discover process will provide inform a more detailed plan that will define end-to-end delivery.; For data migrations a discovery phase will concentrate on the existing legacy solution, its architecture, service level agreement and any additional requirements that will feed into the migrated solution. The discovery phase will define a solution and delivery plan for implementation with associated costs for implementation and ongoing service.
