Planning
- Planning service
- Yes
- How the planning service works
-
The first step is to perform a series of interviews and/or workshops to assess your cloud and software requirements. This will help us to better understand your data needs (computing power, storage, complexity and pricing) as well as your automation, analytics and dashboarding needs. There may also be platforms that you’re leaning towards for different reasons, such as partnerships or alliances.
Next, we will compile a comprehensive platform matrix with a scoring system based on your requirements. The final step will be to work with you to select the most suitable architecture. Providing a final solution architecture.
Once selected, our Technical Project Managers will begin drafting implementation plans, inclusive of roles, gantt charts and cadence. We will be there to assist as much as required. For example, if you have a team of engineers we can work with them or provide the plans and then take a step back. Otherwise, we’re more than happy to complete the implementation on your behalf - Planning service works with specific services

- How the training service works

Distributed Analytics provide training across every aspect of the data journey:
1. The market: A series of training sessions that will bring you up to speed on the platforms/tools that are currently available, where the market is headed and the key things to look out for
2. Platform training: In-depth training to ensure you’re making the most of the platform offering. For example, AWS has many modules and it can seem daunting at first
3. Pipeline development: Developing data pipelines is an art that takes years to perfect. We can help upskill your company to make sure you’re following best practice
4. Data warehousing: Spinning-up, populating and managing a data warehouse can be time consuming. We can help guide you through each step
5. Dashboarding: The best dashboards are usually the least complex. We’ll run through best practice for dashboard wireframing, design, branding, automation, insights and security
6. Coding: Whether it’s Python, SQL or Java we have the in-house expertise and the training material to get you coding asap
7. AI: Take machine learning & deep learning classes with Distributed Analytics experts
8. On-going management: Support and training to ensure smooth operation going forward e.g. change requests or unexpected bugs - Training is tied to specific services

Setup and migration
- Setup or migration service available
- Yes
- How the setup or migration service works
-
The first and most important step is to conduct an as-is assessment of your current setup, which will be documented in detail and provided to you. To complete this, we will take a deep dive into every aspect. For example: Access, security, data pipelines, data warehousing, dashboarding, project management.
This document, along with the solution architecture and the implementation plan will be used to ensure the migration process is as smooth as possible. The migration itself will take place in manageable steps which can be completed following agile or waterfall methodologies. Step examples could include, 1. Ensure backups of all historical data, 2. Spin up the new solution architecture, 3. Develop new and improved data pipelines etc.
A number of cloud hosts will also help with migration as they are getting the benefit of a new customer. We will therefore work closely with them to ensure the process is as cost effective and time efficient as possible - Setup or migration service is for specific cloud services

- How the quality assurance and performance testing works

This is one of the most crucial steps within technology consulting and something we take pride in. Below are a series of examples that highlight how we can help:
1. Test environment: Depending on project size, there will be multiple cloud environments, including a test environment. This is where we can ensure any changes will run as required before pushing to the production environment
2. Data pipeline monitoring: As time passes, your data requirements will change and this can increase pressure on your data pipelines. Continual monitoring is essential to increase efficiency, highlight potential issues and to keep costs to a minimum
3. Error handling: It’s highly likely that an error will arise within your data. How this is handled is extremely important. We will ensure the correct actions are in place to minimise their impact. This can include roll backs, dependencies, email triggering etc
4. QA scripts: Simple but effective scripts that will highlight gaps, anomalies and provide summaries for comparison against the raw data, for example, row count, sum of a column, number of distinct dates found etc
5. QA dashboard: A simple summary dashboard that can provide insights or errors at a glance
