Planning

- How the planning service works
- Cohesive offers comprehensive planning services including full Prince 2 programme management of the replacement or upgrading of system(s) across a business. Typically, we undertake an initial discovery activity to provide an objective assessment of the performance of business systems which is documented in a change strategy. Through business analysis we establish a clear articulation of the ‘as-is’ operating model / system(s) condition and the proposed ‘to-be’ operating model. As part of the planning process we can produce the business case to justify the proposed capital and operational expenditure of new systems. We undertake stakeholder engagements to ensure that use cases are developed to verify the business change requirements. Full systems and functional requirements are prepared ahead of a systems procurement, which is designed to verify and select an optimum solution. Our assessment includes a thorough analysis of any cloud based architecture and data centre hosting arrangements from a security perspective, interfaces with legacy systems, data migration needs and the whole life systems costs. Planning during design, testing and implementation and subsequent communication, roll-out and training is managed by Cohesive project managers in conjunction with the employer and carried out at a pace suited to the client’s business capacity to change.

- How the training service works
- Cohesive provides comprehensive communications, roll-out and training services and has qualified and experienced staff dedicated to providing this service. These services are geared towards the adoption of new ways of working as opposed to being about systems, themselves. Many software vendors can provide training for their systems but are not positioned to provide training aligned to business change and the associated new ways of working. Through developing business cases for new systems including designing new Target Operating Models (TOM) we produce the specification for the people change requirements. In doing so communications, roll out and training needs are defined along with the preferred training methodology such as remote webinars, ‘train-the trainer’ or on-site workshops. We develop full communications, roll-out and training programmes that cover the full context of the deployment of new systems. In designing the implementation of a new system, we advise clients to identify ‘Super Users’ who would support specification and final user acceptance testing of a system. We typically test training material on the ‘Super Users’ to gain feedback so that the training material can be updated prior to seeking authority from the Employer to implement the programme of training.

Setup and migration
- Setup or migration service available
- Yes
- How the setup or migration service works
- We help our clients to migrate from old systems and integrate siloed data into a single source of truth through our tried and tested discovery process, where we gather, analyse, interrogate and synthesise data. Our assessment includes a thorough analysis of any cloud based architecture and data centre hosting arrangements from a security perspective, interfaces with legacy systems, data migration needs and the whole life systems costs. Migration planning, testing and implementation is managed by Cohesive project managers, in conjunction with the employer.

Quality assurance and performance testing
- Quality assurance and performance testing service
- Yes
- How the quality assurance and performance testing works
- In producing the functional and non-functional requirements for business systems, we also design the user acceptance testing criteria. This testing, which includes penetration testing undertaken by others, is detailed in the programme that informs the definition of the project milestones in the Employer’s ITT. As a supplier builds their design solution we instigate a programme of surveillance to verify that the design meets all system requirements. This is often carried out under an ‘Agile’ management approach. As the solution is built and tested by the vendor we audit the vendor against their quality plan and design, reporting our findings to the Employer and Vendor. On completion of the configuration and internal testing of the solution by the Vendor, we will undertake a detailed programme of user acceptance testing covering the full range of the requirements using test data, files, workflow, user administration, adding and archiving projects / workspaces etc. Development and testing will be carried out in dedicated ‘sand-pit’, user acceptance and staging environments, ahead of migration to production. On successful completion of the user acceptance testing, further user acceptance testing will be undertaken once the Employer has provided authority for the Vendor to publish to the production environment.

Fighting climate change
Cohesive are putting sustainability goals into action, both internally but also externally helping support our clients’ journeys helping establish sustainability and ESG data foundations which can enable a business to be more responsible and profitable. From optimizing energy consumption and reducing operational costs to enhancing sustainability and improving carbon goals, there is a constant need for innovative solutions that we provide which drive efficiency and productivity along with our partnership with IBM Envizi and its ESG suite. Internally, we are committed to reporting on relevant ESG topics aligned with leading frameworks and methodologies. We have been measuring our carbon footprint since 2006 using the internationally recognized Greenhouse Gas Protocol standard, including emissions from office utility consumption, global business travel, and colleague commuting. We strive for efficiency in our business practices including corporate travel, colleague commuting and energy use for our offices. We are engaged with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the world’s leading coalition for setting corporate emission reduction targets in line with climate science. Their Net-Zero Standard is the benchmark against which organizations demonstrate strong management of their climate strategy, and why we chose to work within their framework. By submitting our near-term corporate targets to SBTi we are formally committing to be a part of the movement, in line with the Paris Agreement, to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius and reach a common goal of net zero no later than 2050. We encourage and support recycling and energy conservation programmes and each office participates in recycling programmes as offered by the local authorities and landlords. We have a published Carbon Reduction Plan in line with the requirements of PPN 06/21, published here: https://cohesivegroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/CARBON-REDUCTION-PLAN-Cohesive-UK-Group-Ltd.pdfTackling economic inequality
