Being able to annotate data and in particular unstructured data provides a capability lacking in today’s healthcare environment. Medical and clinical information provided in free text (among other formats) cannot be meaningfully read by a machine and the information contained within structures like letters, is usually not available in an easy and usable way. This service is able to read such data using NLP or other approaches, annotate it appropriately and turn it into machine readable and coded information. The result is that users of this information such as clinicians have access to important information about their patients and are able to e.g. utilise all additional information towards treatment or disease prevention. Researchers and planners can better classify their research cohorts and be more precise when e.g. designing study protocols or care pathways, so research output and healthcare decisions can be more targeted and effective.
