Scaling
- Independence of resources
- Designed and scaled to exceed the contracted number of users and predicted growth in activity levels, including during times of increased ‘unplanned’ activity. System design and scaling is based on over 35 years experience, across both Ambulance customers and private providers services to provide a baseline required specification. All systems are load tested beyond expected maximum load levels, testing includes a range of system interface simulators. Virtual separation of resources ensures customer systems operate at their optimal level

The system has been designed to provide and preserve functionality at all times. A major strength of our solution is in the system having a proven track record as a stable, reliable and responsive platform with up-time consistently achieving 99.99% 24x7x365.
Real time 'proactive' monitoring and automated threshold alerting ensures that our staff are aware of any potential issues before they arise. System wide capacity, performance and availability is monitored.
Support is available via a dedicated Service Desk which operates Monday to Friday 09:00am - 17:00pm. Priority 1 - 1 hour response, 4 hour fix Priority 2 - 2 hour response, 6 hour fix Priority 3 - 4 hour response, 35 hour fix Priority 4 - 7 hour response, fix within 3 months or next release - Approach to resilience
-
The configuration and implementation of the new functionally rich and resilient system is in line with best practice in the UK.
Key Features:
• Resilient solution, incorporating multiple ‘synchronised’ copies of the database.
• Automated failover (local site), Interfaces and Clients follow the active DB.
• Web based application
• Dedicated Reporting and Archive nodes
• Multiple system configuration options for system recovery
The system architecture comprises a series of physical and virtualised nodes, load balanced locally and across sites, ensuring high availability in the event of node failure and maintenance activities. This ensures the solution continues to operate in the event of a physical server node and also provides capacity scaling. In the event of a multiple failure event or significant infrastructure failure, the secondary site will take over. - Outage reporting
-
Real time 'proactive' monitoring and automated threshold alerting ensures that our staff are aware of any potential issues before they arise. System wide capacity, performance and availability is monitored.
Multiple dashboards exist to highlight system health / aid in investigation -
1) Database metrics
*SQL server CPU, memory and disk usage
*5-minute snapshot or system health
*Includes system index performance, stored procedures, transactions, error logs (including availability group errors)
2) Transaction Health - Incoming and outgoing
*Includes average time per transaction, average queue length, average processing times
3) Device Transactions - Inbound and outbound
*Includes average time per transaction, average queue length, device activity
4) Server Health - Breakdown by Internal/external servers and Client connectivity
5) Interface Server Health
*Includes Total servers, servers online and key events
All dashboards are designed to show daily / weekly / monthly totals, refreshed every 15 minutes.

- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Public key authentication (including by TLS client certificate)
- Identity federation with existing provider (for example Google Apps)
- Dedicated link (for example VPN)

- Access restrictions in management interfaces and support channels
- Access to application management interfaces and support channels is restricted using role-based access control. Administrative access is limited to authorised personnel only and follows the principle of least privilege. All access requires authenticated user accounts with strong passwords and multi-factor authentication where supported. Access is logged and monitored, and permissions are reviewed regularly. Support access is controlled through defined roles and approval processes, with access removed promptly when no longer required.

All changes to both the underpinning infrastructure (hosted platform) and system software are tracked through our centralised service desk.
In line with our ISO9001 (quality) and ISO27001 (Information Security) standards, all changes are reviewed and risk assessed at our regular Change Management Board (chaired by the Technical Director).
Risks assessed include potential downtime to implement the change, any security considerations that may negatively impact the platform/users, and impact on existing modules and user workflows.
Each customer solution is tracked via our internal software version control process. This includes infrastructure software and application patch levels. - Vulnerability management type
- Complies with a recognised standard, for example CSA CCM v4.0 or SSAE-18 / ISAE 3402
- Vulnerability management approach
- We are registered with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to receive alerts of any identified threats. All threats are assessed internally and patches applied where necessary within 48 hours of advice.

- All Incidents and Service Requests are tracked through our centralised service desk which is underpinned by ISO9001/ISO27001 processes. We are working towards ISO27035/2023 Users can report issues via phone call (dedicated first and second line) or via email. Incidents are tagged as data, configuration, security, infrastructure of software bugs. Where bugs are identified, they are investigated, rectified followed by independent code review and functional testing. Where requested, RCA's are provided. Monthly contract reporting includes all reported incidents, adherence to SLA and their current status.

To secure the highest sustained growth in the G7 - with good jobs and productivity growth in every part of the country making everyone, not just a few, better off.
Policy Outcome 1: Fair work: That offers fair wages and good working conditions. Help people get a job, stay in work, and progress in their careers, with good employment opportunities across the country. Notes: Where there is a large proportion of labour costs in the contract, commercial teams should consider MAC in Outcome 1 as a priority
- New or retained jobs on the contract workforce in the relevant area that meet the criteria set out in MAC 1b, 1c and 1d
- New apprenticeships on the contract workforce in the relevant area that meet the criteria set out in MAC 1b
- Activities that support an environment where staff are educated about and feel empowered to report and address bullying and harassment
- Payment of more than the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage (as appropriate) to the contract workforce
- Measures to support in-work progression to help people in the contract workforce, to move into higher paid work by developing new skills relevant to the contract
- Mission: Make Britain a clean energy superpower
-
To cut bills, create jobs and deliver security with cheaper, zero-carbon electricity by 2030, accelerating to net zero
Policy Outcome 4: Sustainable procurement practices: Reducing carbon footprints, minimising waste, and promoting the use of clean energy and green technologies.
