How the quality assurance and performance testing works
Our design and research services guarantee high-quality digital products. We achieve this through a rigorous testing process that considers both usability and technical performance. Service scope

Service constraints
Geographic limitations may restrict in-person collaborations to specific regions based on costs. The availability of our specialised designers can impact project timelines, necessitating early engagement. Advanced design and testing processes might require client-provided technologies or platforms, particularly for usability testing. Projects heavily reliant on remote collaboration may face challenges if not properly equipped for digital communication. Additionally, our adherence to the latest accessibility and usability standards may require updates or modifications to clients' existing systems to fully integrate our design solutions, ensuring compliance and optimal user experience.

Fighting climate change

Offering remote UX and UI design services means we reduce the need for physical office space and commuting, thereby lowering carbon emissions.

Beyond supporting our clients to achieve their environmental goals, we appreciate that our work may impact the local, regional and global environment and are committed to a programme of sustainable actions to reduce this impact, working towards our own agency sustainability goals.

A key part of our commitment is being a supporter of the Advertising Association’s Ad Net Zero initiative - an industry wide drive to reduce the carbon impact of developing, producing and running advertising to real net zero by the end of 2030.

Supporters commit to five Ad Net Zero actions, which we use as our guideline for sustainability efforts. We operate a number of initiatives under each of these actions.

Action 1: Reduce emissions from advertising business operations
Action 2: Reduce emissions from advertising production
Action 3: Reduce emissions from media planning and buying
Action 4: Reduce emissions through award and events
Action 5: Harness advertising’s power to support behaviour change

As a supporter of Ad Net Zero, our people gain access to a qualification focused on helping those working within the industry understand the climate crisis and the actions we can take to achieve net zero.

Our ultimate sustainability goal is to achieve Net Zero as an agency. We are already carbon neutral certified, undertaking annual carbon audits, plus have committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative and in the process of agreeing our targets.

To contribute to our environmental efforts more locally, we run a green employee network, the ‘Leafers’, who are responsible for implementing green initiatives across the agency. Recent Leafer initiatives have included ‘Leith Lends’, encouraging Leithers to lend/borrow rather than buy new, local litter picks, and a car sharing scheme.

Covid-19 recovery

Our digital solutions facilitate remote work and online engagement, supporting businesses and organisations in adapting to post-pandemic challenges.

We understand the challenges posed by the pandemic and work closely with organisations to adapt their digital solutions to the new normal. Our team facilitates the rapid adoption of remote work technologies, ensuring seamless collaboration and productivity for distributed teams. We also help organisations enhance their digital service delivery, enabling them to reach and serve their customers effectively in a contactless manner. Through the implementation of robust cybersecurity measures, we protect organisations' digital assets and sensitive data, mitigating the risks associated with increased remote access. Our digital transformation workshops and change management strategies empower organisations to navigate the evolving landscape, fostering agility and adaptability.

Tackling economic inequality

We promote accessibility and inclusivity in digital design, ensuring that products are usable by all, regardless of socioeconomic status.

We're committed to tackling economic inequality by leveraging the power of digital technologies. We work with organisations to develop strategies promoting digital inclusion and bridging the digital divide. By providing access to digital tools, resources, and training, we help underserved communities acquire the skills necessary to participate in the digital economy.

Our team collaborates with organisations to create affordable and accessible digital services that cater to the needs of low-income and marginalised populations. We also support initiatives that aim to create digital job opportunities and foster entrepreneurship in disadvantaged communities.

Through data-driven insights and impact assessments, we help organisations measure and optimise the economic benefits generated by their digital initiatives, ensuring that the benefits are distributed equitably. Our goal is to harness the potential of digital technologies to reduce economic disparities, promote financial inclusion, and create a more level playing field for all members of society.

Equal opportunity

Through our commitment to inclusive design practices, we empower diverse user groups, fostering equal access to digital resources and opportunities.

Beyond supporting our clients, at Leith we are deeply committed to championing diversity within the Leith workforce at all levels, but we are always looking for ways to improve.

We have a number of D&I initiatives, supported by a dedicated diversity committee:

Use inclusive recruitment practices, including: mixed interview panels and candidate shortlists; unconscious and conscious bias training for managers; task based interview assessments to prevent bias; all job ads reviewed for compliance with D&I legislation; redesigning the Leith website to meet accessibility guidelines and registering on Euan’s guide (helping disabled people understand the accessibility features/barriers buildings have) - aimed at reducing barriers to interview/employment.

Supporting social mobility and opening up the industry to a more diverse workforce through two inclusive intern and work experience initiatives:
- Upriser: inspiring secondary school students with the power of creative thinking and making them aware of creative career opportunities
- Unlocked: providing paid internships to those from minority communities

Providing our people with an effective voice - employee networks/groups or via safe and confidential ways to enter into dialogue.

Operating committees to raise a collective voice on specific issues and dedicated initiatives: D&I, Accessibility, Environmental, Learning & Development.

Our D&I committee runs regular sessions and awareness training to support inclusion.

Processes to act upon any issues identified through staff engagement

Wellbeing

Our emphasis on user-centric design enhances user satisfaction and reduces frustration, contributing to overall digital wellbeing and mental health.

Beyond the support of our clients and end users, the wellbeing of our employees is our highest priority. We maintain an agency that cares for its people and makes a difference for them.

We provide our colleagues with stable, secure and welcoming working conditions, with processes and tools to support their physical and mental health:
- Implemented the Six Standards of the Mental Health at Work Commitment.
- A team of 8 Mental Health First aiders.
- Full physical and mental healthcare through Vitality.
- Employee assistance programme (Unum) - with unlimited mental health sessions.
- Mental health awareness and neurodiversity training for managers.
- Activities to support World Mental Health Day.
- We operate flexible working, including the option to work abroad 4 weeks each year. Supported by various policies, including menopause and compassionate sick days.
- With 120+ people, and supplemented by freelance staff, we scale resource as required, meeting client requirements whilst preventing burn out.
- Social committee organising regular events to encourage a positive working environment and culture.
- Cycle to Work scheme, weekly softball games, yoga sessions, annual sports day, timetabled events during Wellbeing Week.
- We support learning and development for all our people. All staff receive quarterly performance assessments and regular 1-1 meetings.
- We also run a learning and development committee, keeping abreast of training opportunities for our industry, and support an internal mentoring programme.
- We hold annual staff surveys to monitor the wellbeing of our people, with results and action plans shared.
