- How the planning service works
-
At Manifesto, our approach to planning and implementing cloud services is collaborative and client-focused from the outset. We begin by engaging clients through discovery workshops and lightning talks to gain a deep understanding of their objectives for cloud implementation. This engagement leads to the development of a shared vision statement that guides our planning efforts.
Our methodology is deeply rooted in the GDS manual's principles and employs Agile Methodology across our agency. This ensures that our planning is both strategic and adaptable to our clients' needs. To support this process, our team, including skilled Delivery Managers, provides step-by-step planning assistance. They work in an agile manner to develop a viable delivery plan and, when suitable, prioritise the project backlog.
Our planning process is enhanced by experienced risk management strategies to ensure that every aspect of the implementation is well-planned, controllable, and measurable. This comprehensive approach allows us to identify the most effective cloud solution that aligns with both internal and external user requirements, fitting within the project’s scope.
Being technology agnostic, we offer unbiased planning support for a variety of hosting and software services, ensuring that our solutions are perfectly aligned with our shared vision and your strategic goals. - Planning service works with specific services

Our collaborative approach ensures that we're consistently working closely with client teams and so for ongoing engagements, there is an iterative approach to learning any new features as they are created or become available. We find this typically reduces a learning curve and increases learning retention. We have a flexible approach to training and can design training services that best suit the situation and delegates we're working with. Our training services can be provided on site, off site or remote. Some of the methods we use (but not limited to) include:
• Workshops
• Custom training videos
• Train-the-Trainer
• Lunch and Learn
• Comprehensive documentation
• Communities of practice
• Hackathons

At Manifesto, we streamline migrations to the cloud or transitions between cloud services with our proven onboarding methods. Our approach starts with a comprehensive evaluation of your current infrastructure, allowing us to understand and plan effectively for your desired setup. We conduct detailed assessments of system usage, architecture, and integrations to tailor our strategic recommendations, which include code audits and cloud strategy evaluations.
Our expert team oversees the planning and execution phases, ensuring a meticulous setup and migration process. The support team manages the transition, while our partnership manager coordinates seamlessly with suppliers to minimise disruptions.
Being technology-agnostic allows us to provide unbiased advice and tailor solutions to each client's specific needs, ensuring optimal outcomes regardless of the cloud service involved. - Setup or migration service is for specific cloud services

Quality assurance and performance testing

- How the quality assurance and performance testing works
- Our QA approach enables us to understand the Client's functional and non-functional requirements and structure our effort accordingly. When the requirements have been defined our QA team will review each requirement, analyse the functionality and generate test cases that will cover the acceptance criteria. All of our test cases are stored in our test management tool ready for testing. We build test suites to target specific functional areas and monitor the activity. As our test libraries grow with more functionality added at each sprint, these also become our regression libraries that we test on a regular basis to ensure that existing functionality does not regress with new feature additions. Most functional testing is manual but we can incorporate automation where there is a need for it. Our test coverage as a default will include the following test types: functional, load and performance, browser & device, accessibility, API and design verification testing.

Fighting climate change
Manifesto, (part of TPXimpact, a Certified B-Corp), is steadfast in our commitment to achieving the Science Based Targets Initiative's definition of near-term emissions reductions aligned with the 1.5-degree pathway by 2030, and long-term reductions by 2050. The digital industry is responsible for around 4% of global emissions, surpassing even the aviation industry. Recognising this significant environmental impact, we’ve pledged to make the planet a stakeholder in every one of our projects, integrating actions to reduce negative environmental impact wherever feasible.
At Manifesto, we understand the importance of our role in mitigating environmental harm, and we have invested time and effort to comprehend our impact on projects. Through conscientious decision-making, we strive to create products that are not only visually appealing and engaging but also sustainable. We believe in taking responsibility for our environmental footprint, leaving no room for excuses in our pursuit of sustainability.
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond mere words; it is ingrained in our ethos and reflected in every aspect of our work. From concept to execution, we prioritise environmentally conscious practices, ensuring that our projects align with our mission to protect and preserve the planet for future generations.
We pledge to:
Practise carbon-aware development, scheduling intensive tasks during periods when the electricity grid predominantly utilises renewable energy.
Optimise and minimise our codebase to reduce storage requirements and data transfer during system usage.
Adopt a digital-first approach to content creation, prioritising the development of low-carbon web pages over downloadable files
Design systems to facilitate efficient information retrieval, thereby reducing unnecessary data transfer.
Combat unnecessary bot traffic, aiming to eliminate approximately 25% of internet traffic composed of bots.
Eliminate ROTN content from our systems.
Incorporate carbon footprint measurement into our development cycle.
Our comprehensive Carbon Reduction Plan is readily available at https://www.tpximpact.com/about/planet/Covid-19 recovery
We acknowledge the significant impact COVID-19 has had on local communities, particularly in terms of employment challenges following extended illnesses or changes in job status due to the pandemic, such as layoffs. To assist in these recovery efforts, we are taking the following actions:
Engaging with the Community: We are actively engaging with community members to understand their needs in the regions where we operate. This involves direct consultations and engagement initiatives to tailor our services effectively.
Collaborative Design and Inclusion: We involve local stakeholders and community members in the design of our services, systems, products, and facilities. This includes community-led projects aimed at improving transportation, reducing crime, addressing homelessness, alleviating poverty and hunger, combating loneliness, enhancing English language skills, and fostering social integration among diverse groups.
Enhanced Community Engagement Strategies: We are refining our engagement strategies to better connect with various segments of the community, including educational institutions. We ensure that community input shapes our strategic decisions and project implementations.
These efforts are designed to foster a supportive, inclusive, and resilient community environment in the wake of the pandemic's challenges.Tackling economic inequality
Manifesto is committed to providing accessible, high-quality careers and training opportunities. We strive to be an employer of choice by fostering a work environment that values flexibility, inclusion, and both personal and professional growth. Our emphasis on flexibility and inclusion allows us to extend meaningful employment opportunities to those who have traditionally been excluded due to factors like geographic location, caregiving responsibilities, or specific needs. We have implemented a comprehensive, multi-faceted strategy to address employment and training opportunities effectively:
Our strategic initiatives include:
Investing in Long-Term Talent Pipelines: We are dedicated to initiating 5,000 digital careers, aiming to transform the composition of the technology sector. This commitment involves enhancing our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, raising awareness of key issues, and investing in a diverse talent pipeline.
Nurturing Homegrown Talent: Acknowledging a significant skills gap, we launched the Manifesto Design Academy last year. Our program is inclusive, open to all regardless of academic background, and designed with the flexibility to accommodate individuals from anywhere in the UK.
Upskilling Minority-Owned Tech Businesses: Our flagship community investment program, Future Leaders, now in its sixth year, is a six-month accelerator for underrepresented digital entrepreneurs. This program offers essential financial support, mentoring, professional development, and networking opportunities.
Recruiting in Under-Served Areas: As a flexible, remote-first organisation, Manifesto operates a hub model, enabling us to tap into local talent across the UK effectively.
These efforts align with our guiding principles, reflecting our commitment to creating equitable opportunities and fostering a truly inclusive workplace where everyone feels they belong.Equal opportunity
At Manifesto we believe that inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility are fundamental to all the experiences we create, serving as the benchmarks for their operation and impact. These principles not only shape the products and services we offer but also define our organisational behaviour and establish a standard for our culture. Culture is dynamic, a reflection of the continuous interactions and behaviours of everyone within the organisation. At the core of our approach is a commitment to a workplace where everyone genuinely feels they belong—where individuals are encouraged to be themselves without the pressure to conform.
Social value benefits include:
Being an Inclusive Employer: We attract diverse talent and nurture them with inclusive and flexible working arrangements, striving to dismantle barriers that deter individuals from tech careers.
Amplifying Underrepresented Voices: We host four Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) for women, ethnic minorities, LGBTQI+ individuals, and neurodiverse employees. These groups act as safe spaces where employees and allies can share experiences and address relevant issues.
Recruiting Diverse Talent: Our inclusive recruitment strategies involve partnerships with diverse networks such as ADA’s List, Working Mums, and Talk2Dan, alongside inclusive hiring practices designed to attract a broad spectrum of talent.
Inspiring More Diverse Talent: Through our 1% community action pledge, we encourage employees to dedicate at least 16 hours annually to mentor young people from underrepresented backgrounds, thereby increasing training and employment opportunities in underserved communities.
Our commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility is not just about implementing policies; it is about cultivating an environment where everyone can thrive, contributing to a vibrant culture where 'everyone belongs' is not just a statement—it's who we are. This dedication is woven through every facet of our operations and is integral to our mission of creating equitable opportunities and fostering a truly inclusive workplace.Wellbeing
At Manifesto, we recognise that the fast pace of life can often be overwhelming, and it is vital that we all practise self-care, patience, and occasionally pause to reflect on challenges.
We are committed to fostering an environment where making time for one another, creating space for reflection, and maintaining balance are integral to our operations. This philosophy is embedded in how we manage our teams and allocate resources for our projects, and we extend the same consideration and respect to our clients.
Social value benefits aimed at enhancing the health and wellbeing of our team include:
.
A structured wellness activity programme
Our Employee Forum facilitates meaningful dialogue on important issues, including work-life balance and the importance of mental breaks.
Our free Employee Assistance Programme with Health Assured and Champions Health provides support services that encourage a healthy balance between personal and professional life.
Mental Health Line Manager Training: With 10% of our workforce trained as Mental Health First Aiders, we equip our leaders with the skills to support their teams effectively, emphasising the importance of patience and self-care.
Support for Wellbeing Charities and Initiatives: Our commitment extends to volunteering and supporting health and wellbeing projects within the community, reflecting our dedication to comprehensive societal wellbeing.
Encouragement to Pause: We encourage our employees to take time away from their desks, promoting physical activities and interactions with the natural environment to rejuvenate and gain perspective.
These initiatives are part of our broader commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility, underlining our belief in a holistic approach to workplace wellbeing where 'everyone belongs'. By creating a supportive, respectful environment, we ensure that our team feels valued and capable of navigating both personal and professional challenges with resilience and support.
