Fighting climate change
Deecon Consulting is committed to environmental excellence and operating in a sustainable manner at every level of the business. This includes meeting or exceeding all environmental regulatory requirements, namely Net Zero emissions by 2050. We have an Environmental Management policy aligned to ISO 14001 and comply with regulatory standards through SECR. Deecon has submitted a Carbon Reduction Plan against PPN 06/21 requirements for the past two years, and have realised a reduction of 31% over the last two years reported. We engage with our supply chain to share our insights and best practice to help them track their own emissions and provide training on how to properly conduct carbon footprint assessments. We are currently also exploring the idea of purchasing carbon credits through the UK Land Carbon Registry to offset carbon emitted throughout project lifecycles. Deecon also has environmental initiatives in place, managed by a ESG workstream:
Utilising an Assessment Tool to evaluate the potential impact of initiatives and compliance to Scopes 1, 2, and 3
Primarily paperless company, utilising digital tools like MS356 as our predominant form of communication
Focus on targeted communications with clients, promoting the use shared servers to avoid energy drains
Committed to sustainability within the office, recycling waste, purchasing LED lightbulbs and encouraging the use of glassware to reduce single use plastics
Decrease our carbon footprint through our limited use of cars, encouraging public transport and a hybrid means of working
Encourage our supply chain to also adopt our hybrid working model and sustainable initiativesCovid-19 recovery
Method Statement: Training Opportunities
Deecon hold bi-monthly training sessions, publish bi-weekly blog posts, and attend seminars and webinars to address skill gaps and support Deecon employees to progress their career development.
Deecon also publish our blog posts on our website, as a free resource, accessible to all. This allows those from disadvantaged backgrounds to developing their understanding of the sectors we work within and upskill.
Our Process:
Our training sessions take place bi-monthly. Our sessions are taught by our employees, and everyone is encouraged to deliver a training session, on either a sector or service specific topic. This is vital, as it allows our employees to develop their skillset through both learning and teaching.
Our training sessions are recorded so that those who are unable to attend in person, or those who have learning difficulties, are able to watch the training session back with captions or slowed down.
At the end of our training sessions, we hold a quiz, in order to track progress and identify areas where further support is required.
Our Business Analyst’s receive additional training support through our mentorship programme to ensure that the gap between education and employment is sufficiently bridged.
Our blog posts are published bi-monthly. Our blog posts are written by our employees and everyone from SMT to Business Analysts are encouraged to write a blog post, on either a sector or service specific topic.
Deecon employees are also encouraged to attend external conferences, webinars, and seminars on a broad range of topics. For example, our senior consultants recently attended a 5-day conference on Wellbeing and Mental Health.
How we Monitor, Measure and Report on our Training Process:
Our Learning & Development programme is audited by a 3rd party assessor, to ensure that it is accessible to everyone, including those with learning difficulties.Tackling economic inequality
Method Statement: Fair and Equal Pay
Deecon recognise the importance of creating opportunities for economic growth and supporting organisations to grow. For example, Deecon employees are paid a fair and equal wage, and receive structured pay increases throughout their tenure.
Our Process:
Employees are paid in excess of the London Living Wage.
All staff are provided structured pay increases routed in their experience and performance throughout their tenure. This is due to a recognition that Deecon want to attract good candidates from all backgrounds, minimise staff turnover and improve productivity.
Deecon also recognise the high cost of living in London, and the impact of inflation, and therefore ensure that our salary increases mirror inflation.
Once our employees pass their probation, they are contracted on a permanent basis with annual Performance and Development Reviews (PDRs) including 6 monthly touchpoints.
Deecon have incorporated a bi-annually Performance and Development Review (PDR) Process into strategic business planning. Employees and management identify development needs and priorities, guaranteeing that personal and organisational requirements are met.
How we Monitor, Measure and Report on our wage:
Deecon monitor our wage by comparing ourselves to industry standard, and the London living wage, to ensure that we are paying competitively.Equal opportunity

Our Process:

Our recruiters complete training on how to determine skills without bias, how to ask appropriate questions, how to ask sensitive questions and how to recognise unconscious bias.
Our interview questions are audited by an external 3rd party to ensure that they are fair and do not exclude those from minority backgrounds. Our interviewers do not ask questions about physical disability, religious beliefs, sexuality, pregnancy, world views, age, or ethnicity.
We provide a variety of alternative formats to submit applications, this includes via email, Monday.com, our website and by post for those who might not have.
We also provide a variety of interview formats, these include telephone. pre-recorded video, Microsoft Teams, Skype calls, and in-person interviews.
When selecting which applicants, we ensure that the process is objective, consistent and non-discriminatory. This is achieved by ensuring that the same staff are responsible for selection decisions.
How we Monitor, Measure and Report on our Recruitment Process:
Monday.com, a cloud-based platform, allows us to monitor, measure and report on our recruitment process.
We update each stage of our recruitment process on Monday.com to ensure transparency and accountability.
We upload feedback from each of our interviews to Monday.com, so that should the candidate request it, feedback can be provided.
Our recruitment process is audited by a 3rd party assessor, to ensure that it is fair and transparent.Wellbeing
Mental Health Awareness Training is key to Wellbeing and will take place across the contract duration. This training will enable Deecon employees to ascertain symptoms of poor mental health, accurately self-evaluate, and understand effect on workplace productivity. It will be conducted by staff members certified to carry out the appropriate training, and will cover:
Identifying signs of mental health issues in both oneself and in colleagues
Techniques for building resilience and coping with workplace pressures
Encouraging open dialogue about mental health and reducing stigma
Raising awareness about available mental health resources and support services
Educating employees about the company's Employee Assistance Program
Deecon will set-up fortnightly mental health touchpoints to cultivate an environment where colleagues can talk openly, creating a happier and healthier office culture. Deecon will report progress by capturing employee feedback and collating this into a reporting document. This will support the Employee Satisfaction survey, which will be distributed immediately following contract award, after 3 months, then at contract end. 3 month periods between each round of surveys allows sufficient time to effectively map changes in employee happiness following new initiatives.
