Fighting climate change

Fighting climate change

The board of Intuitivecare are committed to fighting climate change and reducing the impact of it's operations on the climate. We aim to be carbon neutral by the end of 2024.

Our policies and procedures reflect working methods which aim to reduce environmental impact, promote sustainability and manage environment impacts to reduce negative climate change. To help mitigate our effects on the climate we will:
- increase the use of renewable energy and low carbon energy sources where applicable;
-incorporate environmental considerations into procurement processes and promote the use of low carbon and energy-efficient products and services;
-explore the opportunities of offsetting carbon emissions; and
-engage employees, suppliers and customers to reduce carbon emissions in their daily operations and promote a low carbon culture where practicable.

Policy examples:
As a completely on line data system in an organisation which actively supports home working we reduce our carbon footprint through unnecessary commuting.

All presentations and meetings are held on line to avoid unnecessary travel and it's negative effects on the environment. The database also has on line training which also negates the need for face to face training and the associated travel.

Intuitivecare is an on line Fostering management system which allows for paperless working so enabling our customers to adopt home and flexi working practices which will support their policies for fighting climate change.

Covid-19 recovery

Covid-19 recovery

Intuitivecare promotes covid recovery due to the fact that it is an online resource, which allows our users access to the system in line with their roles and user permissions whether in the office or at home.

The covid recovery period is presenting new challenges to businesses and local authorities in many ways. One such changing demand is employees desire to work from home and work flexibly. Being able to meet such demands helps create staff stability and therefore continuation of service without a negative impact on service standards.

Intuitive is completely on line and is paperless across all it's functions e.g. a totally paperless fostering panel module & carer logs submitted through our Carers App. Being an on line system allows access 24/7 and thereby allowing home and flexible working e.g. during periods of self isolation when the employee is neither infected or showing signs and symptoms of Covid.

Should the Covid pandemic increase or a new pandemic occur, the system allows for an employee change in workplace to the home environment without any disruption. Many of our customers have also moved more staff to home working to reduce the need for office space and it's subsequent costs and risks.

Tackling economic inequality

Intuitivecare monitors and tracks the Outcomes for Children under the 2004 children's act. 'Achieve economic well being' is one of these outcomes which the system promotes through ensuring emotional needs are through case tracking and intervention monitoring.

Intuitivecare can also track education outcomes ensure young people get the correct support they require at schooly to enable them to attend further education and increase their employment opportunities.

The system also tracks using adverse childhood experiences where research has evidence significant increases in mental health , poor physical health and increased substance mis use and incarceration for adults with childhood scores of greater than 3. This is tracked and monitored, and interventions put in place and monitored to ensure their effectiveness. Thereby lessening the harmful effect of ACEs and the promotion of resilience factors.

As an employer/ organisation

The board of Intuitivecare is committed to tackling economic inequality through:

1) Working to a clear equal opportunities agenda.
2) Creating work and training opportunities for people from lower socio economic groups and those who have traditionally faced discrimination.
3) Paying employees above the national minimum wage.
4) Improving working conditions and opportunities for who may face barriers to employment e.g. single parents, people with disabilities through the use of home and flexi working.
5) Supporting people to achieve and to create opportunities for personal growth.
6) Recognising and rewarding entrepreneurship.
7) Promoting good physical and mental health
8) Promoting environmentally sustainable practices in the workplace and education for improvement within the home environment.
9) Ensuring our supply chain operates under the same values base as Intuitivecare.

Equal opportunity

Looked after young people are over represented in statistics in not being able to access resources to support and resources which is a key element in building resilience and supporting better outcomes and reducing he effects of high ACE scores. Intuitivecare monitors young peoples ethnicities, abilities and social economical factors to promote their needs as any 'normal child' within a family may expect.

Data is built on key areas such as ethnicity and disabilities to ensure that services are provides on an equal basis.

As an employer:

Intuitivecare is an equal opportunities employer which promotes fairness and respect. No employee, applicant or stakeholder will be treated less favourably due to their sex, gender identity, disability, marital status, race, pregnancy, nationality or ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, socio economic status or age. Our aim is to encourage diversity have a workforce that reflects the composition of society.

Intuitivecare opposes and avoids all forms of unlawful discrimination. We will not tolerate any forms of discrimination or harassment and any concerns raised against our employees/stakeholders will be investigated and managed under the appropriate procedure e.g. disciplinary procedures for employees , complaints for key stakeholders.

We promote a working environment free of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all, and where individual differences and the contributions of all staff are recognised and valued

Intuitivecare will continuously review is policies and procedures relating to equality opportunities in line with the latest regulatory requirements, good practice and the outcomes of any complaint/investigations. We revise the policies and procedures where shortfalls are identified in the review process.

Wellbeing

The whole design of Intuitivecare is base on promoting the wellbeing and outcomes of looked after children and to alert users where their are shortfalls or concerns.
The system highlights its users when key information hasn't been provide or is out of date e.g. personal education plans, child in care reviews. These meetings and processes are design and implemented to promote their well being. The system reports and monitors this to ensure plans are maintained and key targets are achieved.

As an employer:

Promoting well being is at the heart of the company's operations and the key purpose/function of the Intuitivecare Fostering Database.

As a company we recognise that through promoting wellbeing we can help prevent stress and create positive working environments where individuals can grow and thrive. In so doing the organisation will thrive as well.

The net benefits we see are that through promoting wellbeing and positive mental health we see reduced sickness, better resilience, higher levels of connection with our workforce and a sense of being part of an organisation which is committed to it's employees.

The Intuitivecare database allows our customers to stay on top of and manage key welfare processes e.g. staff review, staff appraisals and allow managers to actively manage and support their teams in a proactive manner.

Covid -19 has introduced and created the need for new methods of working and raised new expectations by employees in managing home/work life balance. Intuitivecare allows our customer's employees to work from home with minimal disruption to them, their families or their employers. It also allows staff to work from home during periods of isolation when they are showing no signs or symptoms of Covid.
