SCW provides a tailored migration service. For organisations starting their journey, we help develop a strategy that aligns with business needs and considers financial and technical implications. In the context of this strategy, we assess migration approaches including refactoring, re-platforming, repurchasing, rehosting, relocating, retention, and retirement.
We support you to prepare for live operations through design and build of landing zones, service model design, process and governance controls design, and organisation development support.
Once readiness for migration is achieved, SCW takes a 4 step approach to cloud migration, in line with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure:
1. Prepare
2. Assess
3. Deploy
4. Release
In the prepare phase, we will help define the objectives and associated project plan for the migration, as well as undertaking stakeholder analysis and validation of environment configuration. The assessment phase considers the current workloads, identifies dependence and requirements to define the optimal plan for each workload. The deploy phase transitions services into the cloud environment in line with the migration. In the final release phase, assurance is undertaken to confirm workloads are functioning as required and that performance and security requirements are met before the services are made available to users. - Setup or migration service is for specific cloud services

Our International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) qualified Test Managers can review Test Strategies and plans. They will work closely with suppliers to ensure there is sufficient testing coverage across a project life cycle to provide assurance around the testing of new functionality.
Where Test Strategies do not exist, they can work with stakeholders to create a strategy and test plans. They can co-ordinate and monitor testing activities throughout a project’s life cycle. Test Managers will manage defect/issue logs and work closely with stakeholders and suppliers to review priorities and agree timescales for fixes. They can assist in the creation of Test Certificates/Reports to detail testing undertaken and issues/defects found during testing.
Test Managers are able to review supplier performance testing Test Strategies and test reports once these are completed, and provide advice and guidance on any areas which may need further review.
We have significant experience in managing DTAC assessments ensuring quality and assurance guidelines are adhered to.
All our programmes of work have an assigned SRO and standard governance procedures in place.

Fighting climate change
Part of the NHS, SCW is a nationally established leader supporting NHS customers to develop and implement Green Plans across all business areas, including digital and data, clinical service delivery, travel and transport and support services. Knowing that ‘every £1 invested in the NHS delivers £4 in the economy’ drives SCW to deliver best-in-class support to customers and social value to communities they serve.
SCW is also minimising its impact on the environment through encouraging local energy saving measures, including minimising car travel and using public transport where feasible. Staff cycle and walk to work where possible, and employees have access to the company cycle to work scheme.Covid-19 recovery
SCW is committed to ensuring that opportunities throughout this contract help local communities to manage and recover from the impact of COVID-19, including improving workplace conditions for the contract workforce.
While the world recovers from the issues around Covid-19, SCW is working with its suppliers to optimise services to employees and clients.Tackling economic inequality
SCW has a proud track record tackling economic inequality in local communities. We recognise our responsibilities under the Social Value (SV) Model to help create new businesses, new jobs and new skills, and to increase supply chain resilience and capacity. This is evidenced in our support of systems that support local employment and retention.
NHS SCW does not generate profit and our operating model enables us to generate a minimum 1% margin to reinvest into a fund that SCW can draw down on, to the value of £1.5m pa. The Approved Organisation (AO) contracts we secure will have access to this fund enabling us to tackle social and economic inequalities together. Our investment will generate significant local economic benefit because ‘Every pound spent in the NHS equates to four pounds back to the local economy’ (Confed 2022).Equal opportunity
SCW is an NHS organisation with a proud track record for embedding social value principles, including equal opportunities, within our organisation and with our customers. We recognise our responsibilities under the Social Value Model for reducing disability employment gaps and tackling workforce inequality, as evidenced in our digital skills support to systems;
• Clinical Systems training delivered to 850+ GP Practices across Southern England
• Digital literacy eLearning tailored to population needs, part of Health Education England (HEE)’s ‘State of the Nation’ programme.Wellbeing
At NHS SCW, fostering a sense of belonging is our priority. We create an inclusive environment where every team member feels valued and respected, regardless of their background or identity. Our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is at the heart of our workplace culture.
Our strategy for promoting wellbeing and diversity is structured around five key steps:
• Inclusive Environment: We actively cultivate an atmosphere where everyone thrives.
• Equity and Fairness: We ensure equal opportunities for all.
• Diverse Perspectives: We celebrate and leverage diverse viewpoints.
• Education and Awareness: We provide resources to enhance understanding.
• Continuous Improvement: We adapt and evolve based on feedback.
SCW is committed to supporting its workforce with a wellbeing hub; Employee Assistance Programme; and other initiatives to support the wellbeing of its workforce.
