-
We conducted accessibility testing of Brandwatch’s web chat interface with assistive technology (AT) users to ensure an inclusive experience. Testing involved a variety of AT tools, including screen readers such as NVDA (Windows) and VoiceOver (macOS), keyboard-only navigation for users unable to use a mouse, and magnification or zoom tools for low-vision users. Testers simulated common chat journeys, including initiating a chat, entering and sending messages, receiving responses, navigating chat history, attaching files where applicable, and closing the chat window.
During testing, we focused on accessibility outcomes such as ensuring all chat controls are reachable via keyboard, chat notifications and new messages are properly announced by screen readers, focus management is consistent, and ARIA labels or roles are correctly applied. Any issues, such as unlabeled buttons, focus loss, or inaccessible content, were logged and prioritized for remediation.
After implementing fixes, we conducted re-testing with the same AT users to confirm barriers were resolved. Findings and recommendations were documented in an accessibility report, detailing AT used, scenarios tested, issues identified, and the status of remediation efforts. This iterative process ensures Brandwatch’s web chat remains accessible, usable, and inclusive for users relying on assistive technologies, supporting compliance and enhancing overall user experience. - Onsite support

Documentation is provided through the Help Center, online guides, and downloadable service materials, structured with clear headings, lists, and descriptive text to facilitate navigation with screen readers or keyboard-only access. For onboarding, documents cover steps such as account setup, role assignment, training resources, and best practices, while offboarding materials provide guidance on data export, access revocation, and account closure. if a user needs versions compatible with assistive technology—such as tagged PDFs, Word documents, or large-print versions—they can request these directly from the supplier. - API
- Yes
- What users can and can't do using the API
-
Cision Nexus (Brandwatch) provides a RESTful API to all Enterprise clients of the Brandwatch Consumer Research platform, allowing access to all data, metadata, and metrics. The API enables seamless integration with other business applications or internal products, supporting the creation of custom workflows and reports. It uses HATEOAS links to simplify internal navigation, making the API intuitive, fast, and easy to use. Users can export raw data in Excel or CSV formats, and visualizations or charts as JPEG or PNG files directly from the platform, or leverage the API for automated reporting.
For the Social Media Management product, Cision offers RESTful JSON APIs that allow authenticated users via OAuth2.0 to manage queries, mentions, labels, and publishing workflows, as well as upload first-party data for analysis. Through these endpoints, users can edit queries (including Boolean logic, language, and state), update mention metadata such as sentiment, tags, priority, manage labels, schedule or modify social posts, and import data.
Limitations include API rate limits, user-permission restrictions (only Admin or Regular roles can modify data), network-specific constraints for publishing, and certain endpoints requiring additional setup or subscriptions. Some actions, such as reverting a query from active to draft, are not permitted, ensuring data integrity. - API documentation

- Other protection within supplier network
- Within our network, hardened systems are segregated into zones, with only approved traffic flows permitted between zones or systems. Admin access is restricted and controlled by multi-factor authentication. Any data that leaves our trusted network environment must have encryption, typically through HTTPS (TLS). Within our trusted network, application access remains protected by HTTPS and secure protocols are widely used, but are not mandatory unless credentials are included. We also have extensive monitoring capabilities and this helps detect anomalous traffic and other issues.
Availability and resilience
- Guaranteed availability
-
Brandwatch and Cision both provide service level guarantees to ensure reliable platform performance and uptime, giving clients confidence in their media monitoring and social intelligence capabilities.
Brandwatch commits to 99.5% platform availability per calendar month, excluding scheduled maintenance. If this threshold is not met, customers may receive service credits based on uptime: 99–99.49% earns 5% credit, 98–98.99% earns 10%, 97–97.99% earns 20%, 93–96.99% earns 30%, 90–92.99% earns 50%, and below 90% earns 100% credit. To qualify, clients must request the credit within 15 days of the affected month. This tiered system ensures that brands experience minimal disruption and are compensated fairly if service falls short.
Cision guarantees 97% uptime for its hosted services, excluding scheduled maintenance, client-side issues, or force majeure events. If uptime drops below 97%, clients may be entitled to service credits as defined in the SLA. Cision’s guarantee emphasizes platform reliability while maintaining clear exceptions for uncontrollable events.
Both Brandwatch and Cision prioritize consistent service and support. While Brandwatch offers a more granular, tiered credit system, Cision provides a straightforward credit model. These guarantees ensure that users can rely on the platforms for uninterrupted access, critical monitoring, and data-driven insights across social, digital, and traditional media channels. - Approach to resilience
-
All critical infrastructure components are redundant. For cloud services on most of our products (Consumer Research and Social Management Suite), we load balance our servers across multiple availability zones and our databases live in multiple availability zones. Cloud data backups are stored in separate doomsday vault accounts. For physical infrastructure, we maintain two data centers and perform daily backups. Weekly backups are also taken and stored by a third party service provider in the form of encrypted backup tapes.
Our engineering teams maintain documented standard operating procedures and runbooks to address a variety of scenarios. Engineering teams run backup restoration tests for critical services at least annually. We have also implemented an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage of our systems in the event of an incident. - Outage reporting
- Cision nexus provides at least two days’ notice for scheduled maintenance, communicated through in-app notifications and optional email alerts. The platform guarantees 99.5% uptime, ensuring reliable access for users. A public status webpage tracks all service reports and ongoing incidents, enabling users to monitor system health in real time. Clients are encouraged to consult this page before raising support tickets, helping to streamline issue resolution. In addition to the status page, support channels such as in-app chat and email remain available for users to report issues, request assistance, or provide details like screenshots and error logs for faster troubleshooting.
