- How the planning service works
- Working closely with the client we perform a needs analysis and discovery to understand the client’s domain, environment and specific challenges/constraints. This enables us to identify appropriate solutions rather than proposing off the shelf, one size fits all solutions. We work in small, highly skilled multi-disciplinary delivery teams, and build quality into the process from the outset. Leveraging industry best practices, as well as real world experience, we help you move at pace to achieve your desired outcomes.

Fighting climate change
Our lifestyle can have a profound impact on our planet. We can help limit that impact through the choices we make. From its inception in 2013, Digi2al has been developed as a ‘cloud first’ and ‘digital by default’ company, an approach that minimises our operational footprint. We use contemporary tools to allow our teams to work effectively either in a hybrid or fully remote way, and this not only enables organisational agility, but lowers our carbon emissions and our costs. Digi2al mitigates its carbon footprint via a number of environmental offset schemes and we strongly encourage our team to travel by public transport or bike whenever possible and offer ‘cycle to work’ incentives. Greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced to net zero by 2050 if we are to preserve a livable climate and our COO is now working through the auditing and measurement of our 06/21 carbon reduction plan to identify additional ways of achieving Digi2al’s goal of being carbon negative by 2025.Covid-19 recovery
Covid-19 fundamentally changed the way our society thought about how and where we work. Digi2al’s existing approach to hybrid and flexible working allowed us to adjust quickly to the new paradigm, but for some, Covid-19 has had a more lasting impact. Many have experienced ongoing fatigue, reduced mental health or general well-being, making work a challenge. Wherever our people are affected by Covid-19, we support them by connecting them to relevant support services (mental health, financial support, medical support).
While we are a tech company, our team is drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds and Digi2al’s head of HR is also an experienced health professional. They have developed a whole-person approach to supporting the physical and mental health of our team. This includes providing the opportunity for coaching and mentoring, and offering a safe forum for team members to raise any health concerns they may have.Tackling economic inequality
Part of Digi2al’s social ethos is that access to training opens the door to social mobility. We partner with a training provider, Multiverse, to set the conditions for apprentices to leave school and find credible careers in the Technology Sector, providing a platform for people to apply for roles regardless of location, qualifications, nationality or age. Multiverse also seeks out areas with high percentages of free school meals and actively supports those communities with apprenticeships.
Digi2al values those who serve in the armed forces and maintains trusted relationships with a number of military charities. Over the last 5 years we’ve delivered resettlement support for military leavers. This includes career mentoring, mock interviews, CV advice and work experience. As a result many military leavers have successfully moved into digital careers and Digi2al has earned an Armed Forces Covenant Bronze Award.
Digital illiteracy can have a profound effect on the opportunity to thrive in today’s economy. We are an active member of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists and support their efforts to build pathways for those who are disadvantaged by digital illiteracy or who have no access to the internet.
Economic inequality combines many other elements of social inequality, so we don’t address these issues in isolation, instead we look at how best to ensure fairness and operational effectiveness across our business as a whole.Equal opportunity
Digi2al’s business thrives on diversity of thought, culture and life experience. Our core team includes apprentices and new graduates as well as those beginning new digital careers after years of service in the military or in other public and private sector organisations. We have parents of young families including those juggling work with childcare whilst their partners are on deployment overseas, and young people in their first jobs, recruited from the communities in which we operate.
Digi2al recognises diversity and equality is paramount in creating high performing teams. We treat people equally. We do not discriminate against anyone, of any background, sex, race, religion, ethnicity or disability. We've secured continuous gender pay balance across our employees and freelance specialists, by openly reviewing pay and performance with employees, having set tiers/pay bands that reflect nothing more or less than skills and experience. Our rates reflect market expectation, ensuring we meet expectations across capability areas, so there is equal pay across teams, reflected through SFIA level assessment.
Our junior staff have clear career progression and experience has taught us that frequent feedback helps our people develop. By doing this regularly, our process is transparent, and we are open with our team on annual performance bonuses, levelling the rewards equally.
When recruiting specialists we use skills-based assessments (design crits, content creation, coding assessments, GitHub repository reviews) to determine skills and experience that will benefit, and support, our clients.
We are active members of initiatives such as Women in DevOps, Ada’s List, Women of Silicon Roundabout, Code First Girls, MegaMentor and Inspiring the Future. We do this to encourage and support women and LGBTQ+ communities into the tech secto. Our active involvement in OneTeamGov helped encourage more people across the public sector to join together and encourage supportive behaviours across supply chains in government.Wellbeing
Digi2al’s people run Digi2al’s business - so we work hard to support them in living positive and intrinsically valuable lives. We promote positive wellbeing and support our teams in achieving their desired goals. Through connecting socially we foster a sense of belonging whilst developing meaningful relationships founded on trust.
We learnt a lot during the pandemic as our teams worked alongside locked-down clients grappling with the reality of shielding, home-schooling and isolating, whilst operational demands grew. We quickly understood that everyone’s circumstances were unique and that many people were under pressure to support sick loved ones, special educational needs and their own mental health.
We recognised that with the right collaborative and compassionate culture, we could support the needs of the individual without impinging on the interests of the business. We increased our 1:1 engagement with people and talked openly with teams about looking out for each other and identifying ways to highlight concerns over people who seemed to be struggling. We used Slack and virtual meetings to allow people to communicate informally and within our trusted environment, across teams and individually. Online collaborative tools such as Miro and Conceptboard gave quieter members of the team the space to add their thoughts and share their feelings. And some people even used telephones to communicate!
