Onboarding and offboarding
- Getting started
- SkillSet will provide links for customers to review and request amendments and additions. Once updated and approved, we will either provide SCORM files for upload (if you are using your own LMS) or we will upload all courses and user details into a SkillSet-hosted LMS (custom dedicated instance, or secure area of SkillSet's Learning Hub). We prioritise a smooth user experience for both administrators and end-users. We provide training options including webinars, how-to guides, and videos for administrators and managers. Moodle’s intuitive design makes it accessible to end-users without requiring formal training. Additionally, we can set up user tours directly within Moodle. These tours offer step-by-step guidance through the system's key features or specific pages, aiding new users and aligning with your business processes. Users can access these tours at any time. SkillSet ensures seamless onboarding for your team, empowering them to use Moodle effectively from the start.

- End-of-contract data extraction
- Clients using a SkillSet-hosted LMS (dedicated instance or secure area of SkillSet's Learning Hub) can easily extract their data at any time (including the end of contract) using Moodle's built-in tools. This process can be automated or adjusted for manual intervention based on your preferences. Depending on your Moodle setup, users may also be able to directly download certificates and reports relevant. If applicable, at the end of the contract (or upon request), we'll provide you with a full backup of your Moodle site. This comprehensive backup includes all configuration, user data, and learning content, allowing you to replicate your Moodle site elsewhere or use it for historical reference. We can also provide reports containing specific data, including users, completions, course lists etc. Clients using their own LMS will, of course, have complete control of data at all times.
- End-of-contract process
- Clients using a SkillSet-hosted LMS will be provided with all their data (including users, usage and course completions). When the account is closed data will be securely removed from our servers. This is included for Standard and Premium maintenance packages, but an additional cost for Essential maintenance packages.

- Description of service interface
- SkillSet’s tailored off-the-shelf eLearning courses are designed to be deployed into any compatible learning management system (LMS), allowing you to deliver training through the platform that best fits your organisation. When hosted on your LMS, learners access courses through your existing interface, navigation, and reporting environment. Our eLearning content is created in Articulate Rise 360 and provides an intuitive learning experience with clear navigation, structured topics, built-in menus, and progress indicators to support learners as they progress through each course.
- Accessibility standards
- WCAG 2.2 AA
- Accessibility testing
- SkillSet's off-the-shelf eLearning courses are WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliant as standard, however content can be adapted to meet higher compliance levels as required. We use Articulate Rise 360 as our primary eLearning development tool. Articulate places a strong emphasis on accessibility features, including screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation support, and adherence to WCAG guidelines. All of our courses undergo thorough testing, ensuring complete functionality using screen readers and keyboard-only navigation. This verifies that all users, including those with disabilities, can interact with and benefit from our content without barriers.
- API

- Customisation available
- Yes
- Description of customisation
- Our tailored off-the-shelf courses offer unlimited customisation options. You can personalise the courses with your organisation's branding (logo, colours, fonts), add industry or company-specific content and scenarios, and integrate your own materials and links. We use an easy to use tool (Review 360) for reviewing and requesting changes, ensuring full version control. These customisation features are accessible to authorised staff within your organisation. Site administrators of dedicated SkillSet learning management systems have full control over the site's appearance, allowing them to customise colours, fonts, and imagery to match your organisation’s branding. All site users can select individual colour schemes, including high-contrast options for accessibility. Site administrators can optimise navigation to prioritise core activities, ensuring a seamless user experience with minimal clicks. Teachers and managers can create, edit, and delete courses, activities, and programmes. Learners have the flexibility to personalise their dashboards with widgets and adjust their notification preferences.
Scaling
- Independence of resources
- Our tailored off-the-shelf courses are provided as SCORM packages, so performance is primarily determined by the LMS and infrastructure they are hosted on, rather than the SCORM content itself. Our packages are designed to run efficiently within compatible platforms. For SkillSet-hosted sites, AWS CloudWatch monitors infrastructure load and availability. Our support team is notified when thresholds are breached, allowing resources to be increased as needed, and we monitor public web front-ends with immediate alerts. Where courses are hosted on your LMS, performance depends on your platform capacity and configuration.

Data importing and exporting
- Data export approach
- There are two main ways to export your data from a SkillSet-hosted Moodle site. 1) End-users can easily request a copy of all their personal data directly from their Moodle profile. Once approved, they receive a text-format file. 2) For larger-scale data extractions, managers or other designated users can use reports to export user information in CSV format. These can be customised to include all required data.

- Other
- Other protection between networks
- Where courses are hosted on your LMS, SCORM files are provided via secure transfer. For SkillSet-hosted sites, we protect data in transit using TLS 1.2+ and store data on encrypted volumes. Access to the hosting environment is restricted to authorised users and secured with multi-factor authentication.
- Data protection within supplier network
- TLS (version 1.2 or above)
Availability and resilience
- Guaranteed availability
- Availability is dependent on the platform hosting the SCORM packages, rather than the SCORM content itself. Where courses are hosted on your own LMS, availability and any associated SLAs are provided by your hosting environment and service provider. For SkillSet-hosted sites, we use AWS Cloud Services due to its resilience and capacity. AWS commits to a monthly uptime of at least 99.95%. Support is available within UK business hours, with 24-hour support available for business-critical systems. If availability falls below the agreed SLA, we will investigate and agree an appropriate remedy, such as service credits, in line with contractual terms.
- Approach to resilience
- Resilience is primarily determined by the platform hosting the SCORM packages, rather than the SCORM content itself. Where courses are hosted on your LMS, resilience is provided through your own hosting architecture and operational processes. We can provide guidance on best-practice deployment if required. For SkillSet-hosted sites, we prioritise swift recovery. Through nightly backups, we can restore your site to a new instance within 2 hours, minimising disruption. For mission-critical systems, we can provide a fully resilient architecture, including load balancing, multiple web servers across AWS availability zones, distributed storage, and a resilient database solution. Across all maintenance packages, AWS CloudWatch monitors key metrics such as CPU, storage, and memory, enabling early detection of issues.
- Outage reporting
- For SkillSet-hosted sites, AWS CloudWatch monitors infrastructure for failure conditions and sustained high load. Our support team is automatically alerted when thresholds are breached, and we also monitor the availability of public web front-ends with immediate notifications to our team. We do not currently provide a public status dashboard or an outage reporting API. Where an outage impacts service availability, we will notify customer contacts by email and provide updates until the issue is resolved.
Identity and authentication
- User authentication needed
- Yes
- User authentication
-
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Username or password
- Other
- Other user authentication
- Authentication depends on how the courses are delivered and hosted. Where courses are hosted on your LMS, users are authenticated through your platform’s standard login method (for example, single sign-on or username and password). For SkillSet-hosted sites, user authentication is managed through Moodle’s configurable authentication options. This can include OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, LDAP, Shibboleth, and SSO integrations with third-party services such as Microsoft Azure AD or on-premises Active Directory, depending on your requirements.
- Access restrictions in management interfaces and support channels
- Where courses are hosted on your LMS, access to management interfaces and support channels is controlled through your internal roles, permissions, and service desk processes. For SkillSet-hosted sites, management access is restricted using Moodle’s role-based permissions, with configuration screens available only to agreed administrator roles. Access to infrastructure management interfaces is limited to authorised SkillSet personnel via VPN with multi-factor authentication. Server command line and SFTP access use public key authentication. Permissions are overseen by our Information Security Manager and Technical Director in line with our ISO 27001-accredited processes.
