Fighting climate change
As an ISO14001-registered organisation Allen Lane is committed to minimising any harmful effects of our business on the environment.
We actively track our carbon footprint, and in conjunction with our parent company we have initiated a programme to targeting net zero by 2030. We are pioneering wider efforts by the recruitment industry to reduce its carbon footprint.
We actively seek to reduce our consumption of energy, paper and water. On energy, we operate from a modern office with low energy motion-controlled lighting and all equipment is switched off when not needed. We minimise printing and have invested in online systems for timesheets and invoices.
In addition to reducing our carbon footprint, we recently invested in a mangrove conservation and restoration project in Kenya to deliver 2000 tonnes of carbon reduction.
We aim to use sustainable products wherever possible and encourage our suppliers to do likewise.
We encourage hybrid working with staff working from home where practical to avoid unnecessary travel and make extensive use of videoconferencing technologies. By working with locally-based candidates, we also reduce unnecessary travel.Covid-19 recovery
The coming years will be crucial for the country and local communities as we recover from the pandemic. We are committed to continuing to grow our business providing good employment and training opportunities, and helping communities to recover from the effects of the pandemic both by recruiting them into our permanent staff and engaging them as part of our teams of associates.Tackling economic inequality
Allen Lane has long supported tacking economic inequality, seeking opportunities to employ and engage individuals from across the UK. We are committed to the levelling up agenda and supported public sector customers right across the country.
We are also committed to working with young people, particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds, to join our industry. We have invested in the Allen Lane Academy to provide training opportunities for people new to our industry to work alongside our teams and develop experience, and then to have the opportunity to join our team after they finish the training.Equal opportunity
We are committed to equal opportunities and diversity both in our company and in all of our service delivery. All staff have level 2 qualifications in diversity and undergo regular training in all aspects of equalities legislation and best practice. All our internal processes are designed to engage and promote individuals on merit and irrespective of any protected characteristics. We constantly review the diversity profile of our associates to ensure that this is in line with or exceeds the diversity of the local population.Wellbeing
We invest heavily in the wellbeing of our staff, from private healthcare, mental health and wellbeing services and supportive management through to modern offices with break out rooms and free fruit. We also provide regular social events to allow staff to unwind in a relaxed informal atmosphere.
