- How the planning service works

We commence a cloud assessment engagement with a short discovery period where we will run a number of workshops with you to better understand your business, applications, architecture, goals and people, plus any constraints we should be aware of that may hinder your cloud aspirations.
Once we have a detailed understanding of what you are looking to achieve from the cloud, we’ll work with you to create a plan on the steps required for a successful cloud adoption.
The plan is tailored to every client and includes where to start, which application(s) to build, modernise or migrate first and what will be required to achieve this.
We’ll also work with you to discover what skills will be required by Codurance and your team to achieve the future cloud state and what funding may be available via our partners to help cover some of the cost.
This collaborative and agile approach ensures you are kept informed throughout the process and the plan can easily be adapted aligned with business needs or other constraints. - Planning service works with specific services

Codurance will support you to migrate workloads to the cloud or between clouds whilst adhering to best practices (including reliability, security and cost optimisation) outlined by the major cloud vendors (AWS, Azure).
We can either start with one application as a Proof Of Concept or undertake a comprehensive migration within your timeframe, depending on requirements.
We are an Advanced Services Tier partner of AWS and a Gold Cloud Platform Partner of Microsoft, providing further assurance of our expertise in the migration and modernisation of applications to the cloud. In addition, funding may be available via our partnerships to help offset some of the cost of the migration.
Codurance works collaboratively with you to not only migrate workloads, but also to modernise strategic applications to take advantage of cloud native features. We’ll help you improve the way you build, maintain and deploy your infrastructure and applications to improve deployment times and scalability.
We support you with building modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices whilst coaching your teams to help build a sustainable and skilled inhouse team that can support the cloud platform and services going forwards. - Setup or migration service is for specific cloud services

Fighting climate change
Codurance understands the urgent environmental action required by businesses and organisations to reduce carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices to build a better future.
We are supporting these issues in a number of ways including helping customers migrate to the cloud and modernise their applications to be cloud native. Customers with applications hosted in the cloud consume 77% fewer servers, 84% less power and reduce carbon emissions by 88% by using the cloud compared to hosted on premises data centers.
In addition, Codurance is an authorised AWS Well-Architected Partner that can deliver the certified Well-Architected Review against the Sustainability Pillar. This new Pillar of the Well-Architected Framework helps organizations improve their sustainability in the cloud. This is a continuous effort focused on energy reduction and efficiency of all types of workloads. For example, selecting an efficient programming language, adopting modern algorithms, using efficient data storage techniques, and deploying correctly sized and efficient infrastructure.
Specifically, the pillar is designed to support organizations in developing a better understanding of the state of their workloads, as well as the impact related to defined sustainability targets, how to measure against these targets, and how to model where they cannot directly measure.
An example of where we have worked with a sustainable business is a global renewable energy business that builds solar and wind farms. We supported their migration to the cloud, helping them improve their carbon footprint by reducing dependence on costly and power-heavy data centers.
Finally Codurance is a proud signatory of the Microsoft Partner Pledge, a shared vision between Microsoft and its global partners with a commitment to support and tackle key areas to improve society with technology across five pillars - one of these is Sustainability and a goal to reduce carbon footprint.Covid-19 recovery
Codurance supported people in a number of ways during the Covid-19 pandemic. This included providing additional support to its staff to ensure wellbeing and health through regular online webinars from wellbeing experts, online team social activities and daily virtual ‘coffee breaks’ organised via apps and our Slack channels.
These measures ensured our people were able to maintain productivity and support our customers to build new software and platforms, even at the height of the Covid-19 crisis.
In addition, Codurance was at the heart of a number of key projects that were delivered during Covid-19 including creating new software features for a platform managing the transportation and supply chain of vaccines, blood samples and other biological specimens.
We also supported a number of other IT projects where businesses had to quickly pivot the way they engaged with customers to maintain sales in the retail ecommerce, healthcare and logistics industries. Our proactive ability to amend our working practices to 100% online ensured we were not only able to continue business as usual with customers, but we also transferred our ways of working to our customers, allowing them to better support their own teams with modern practices like hybrid working, online meetings and whiteboard, online pair-programming and team ceremonies.Tackling economic inequality
Codurance has a culture of continuous learning and improvement that enhances the skills and career opportunities for its own teams and also those of its customers.
All Codurance employees are supported to gain the right skills and certifications (including the major cloud certifications) to deliver the best services to customers. In addition, we also run a paid 4-month Apprenticeship program - the Codurance Academy for people with less experience to help them gain the technical and soft skills required to become fully productive members of Codurance project teams.
Codurance supports people from underrepresented groups in the technology sector in a number of ways. We are a signatory of the Tech Talent Charter, a government-backed UK not-for-profit organisation that provides advice, events and initiatives to drive greater equity in tech. Our people are also involved in organising, attending and speaking at meetups aimed at under-represented minorities plus we support campaigns to drive greater opportunities in tech in the UK North region through our network of partners.
Codurance invests consultancy time and financial resources to facilitate and publicise weekly community craft events around the UK. The events are free of charge, are open to anybody, accessible independently of Codurance (via www.meetup.com) and are often hosted in partnership with local organisations. They represent a training opportunity for people in industries with known skill shortages and in high growth sectors. They also influence staff, suppliers, customers and communities throughout the delivery of the contract and long after the end of the contract, to support skills development.
By providing teams of people with diverse skills and backgrounds, we can help ensure that the products and services we design and build are more representative of the people and communities they serve across the supply chain.Equal opportunity
Codurance believes in equal opportunity for all. We support workforce inequality through a number of policies and initiatives. We are committed to promoting equal opportunities throughout the recruitment process. Our staff and any job applicants will receive equal treatment regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation (Protected Characteristics).
In addition to our equal opportunities policy, we also have policies, training and support for people around enhanced carers leave, menopause, flexible working, mental health and wellbeing.
To ensure people feel as included as possible at work we run regular wellbeing sessions using professional partners and have an online platform where our people can manage their mental health and gain support through attending events.
We understand that measuring progress is the key to driving greater equality which is why every year we ask our staff to complete an anonymous diversity and inclusion survey where we capture data about our people that helps to inform our future strategy.
We help our people, including those from under-represented groups to progress their careers through ongoing career development reviews, delivering training or coaching where required to ensure they are able to deliver results to our customers and drive project and personal success.
Our Codurance training academy is designed and delivered by our inhouse experts to ensure our Craftspeople-in-Training have the required knowledge and skills in cloud technologies to build against industry best practices and gain recognised certifications.Wellbeing
Codurance understands the value of wellbeing and positive mental health for its employees and the wider tech community including its customers.
We support our teams wellbeing in a number of ways including providing mental health first aiders and delivering regular wellbeing sessions via preferred partners.
We further ensure wellbeing through giving our people access to an online wellbeing platform called Lyfe that offers advice, webinars, resources and content.
The wellbeing of our people is critical to long-term success of both our business and our customer’s success so we invest in this to attract and retain talent and demonstrate a positive and supportive culture for all.
We support skills and community building in the tech industry by hosting the London Software Craftsmanship community, the Software Crafters North community and the Barcelona Software Crafters community. These communities meet, share and learn about designing well-crafted software with quality and best practices built in to drive greater success.
We are also supporting the wider tech community through providing expert instructors and coaches at meetups that are focused on diversity and inclusion on tech (eg. women in tech meetups, black coders meetups etc).
