Onboarding and offboarding

Getting started
VertiGIS Studio offers a robust and complete suite of user documentation for self study, available at https://docs.vertigis.com/en/build-your-own.html

Furthermore, 1Spatial can also provide both on-site, online and self-paced training.

End-of-contract data extraction
As a platform for building geospatial applications, the resulting applications can be exported from the user interface at any stage during the contract lifecycle, as an app .json and some .xml.

Likewise, any custom components and workflows that the user creates can be exported from the user interface as .json at any stage during the contract lifecycle.

The geospatial data itself is stored in Esri ArcGIS Portal, subject to Esri's supplier conditions for storing, retrieving and extracting data.

There are few other relevant pieces of data other than user credentials, which typically do not need to be extracted.
End-of-contract process
At the end of the contract, the VertiGIS Studio licence simply expires, and the application will no longer allow itself to be used.

There are no end of contract costs nor similar.

Differences between the mobile and desktop service
VertiGIS Studio has two application designers:

The first, VertiGIS Studio Web, allows you to author applications for desktop, tablet and mobile that are to be used online. These applications are accessed on the device of choosing as responsive web apps, via a browser.

The second, VertiGIS Studio Mobile, allows you to author applications for mobile that are specifically designed to be used offline in the field (e.g. .ipa for iOS, .apk plus .aab for Android, .appxbundle for Windows).

Both application designers are accessible by desktop, and the user can choose what kinds of devices the resulting applications can run on.

API
Yes
What users can and can't do using the API
VertiGIS Studio has a complete suite of APIs for each of the component applications it has.

Each application has distinct APIs based on its functionality. These APIs are consistent in style between applications.

The functionality available through each API depends, but in general allows developers to extend the service. One example would be by further creating a workflow step for your specific needs via calling both VertiGIS APIs and other APIs. Another example would be using the API to call various VertiGIS functions from other non-VertiGIS applications.

The API can be extended with custom commands for workflows that you have built, and as such is very flexible and powerful.

The APIs themselves are RESTful.

The application does not support setting up the service via API.

Customisation available
Yes
Description of customisation
VertiGIS Studio Web was created with the sole purpose of allow the easy creation (via no-code, drag and drop visual programming) of geospatial web applications.

Accordingly, the applications created can be hugely customisable, in a near infinite array of combined workflows, UI components, forms, and configuration.

Furthermore, while the VertiGIS Studio toolboxes offer a huge range of tools and components for users to use to create customised geospatial web applications, users can add in and create their own new tools and components to be used in this process.

An example might be adding in API calls to other applications to be used as part of a geospatial application.

Accordingly, VertiGIS Studio is hugely configurable in the base suite of components it offers. Moreover, it allows for even more customisation via giving users the ability to add and create new components to be used.

Scaling

Independence of resources
We offer two approaches for deployment. The first is using VertiGIS' SaaS environments (which offer a choice of location between Europe and the USA). These run in Microsoft Azure.

The second option involves installation on the customer's private cloud environment.

In both cases it must be noted that VertiGIS Studio is a service for designing geospatial web apps, and not the service that hosts those web apps itself.

Esri ArcGIS Enterprise is the service which hosts those web apps. The precise deployment pattern of the underlying ArcGIS Enterprise system (and therefore load balancing) is at the discretion of the customer.

Metrics types
Any user can access the service metrics, and may use these to identify the availability and status of the suite of services that allow a user to use a VertiGIS Studio-created geospatial application.

This comprises ArcGIS servers, Enterprise Portal servers, ArcGIS Online accounts, the VertiGIS Studio Web application, the VertiGIS Studio Mobile application, as well as information on the server hosting VertiGIS Studio itself.

Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
We offer two approaches for deployment. The first is using VertiGIS' SaaS environments (which offer a choice of location between Europe and the USA). These run in Microsoft Azure, and thus inherit the guaranteed level of availability inherent to Microsoft Azure. At the time of writing, this means 99.99% uptime.

The second option involves installation on the customer's private cloud environment. This would entail the guaranteed level of availability inherent to that private cloud environment.
Approach to resilience
We offer two approaches for deployment. The first is using VertiGIS' SaaS environments (which offer a choice of location between Europe and the USA). These run in Microsoft Azure, and thus inherit the resilience inherent to Microsoft Azure.

The second option involves installation on the customer's private cloud environment. This would entail the resilience inherent to that private cloud environment.
Outage reporting
VertiGIS Studio SaaS as deployed by VertiGIS on Microsoft Azure has no automated outage dashboards nor notifications.

Should VertiGIS Studio be installed on the customer's private cloud instance, then the customer could take advantage of whatever monitoring capabilities are available for that environment.

In both cases it must be noted that VertiGIS Studio is a service for designing geospatial web apps, and not the service that hosts those web apps itself. Esri ArcGIS Enterprise is the service which hosts those web apps, and is therefore more relevant to this question. Esri ArcGIS Portal (the relevant component of ArcGIS Enterprise) does have automated email alerts for service outages.
