Quality assurance and performance testing

Quality assurance and performance testing service
Yes
How the quality assurance and performance testing works
Quality assurance and performance testing is at the core of the work that we do. We have a test framework for the performance evaluation of biometric systems which enables an effective, efficient and flexible programme of testing for our customers, with a standards-based approach to testing. Our extensive experience in security evaluations of biometric systems means we can support testing of a wide range of biometric modalities, in terms of both accuracy and security assessments. Performance testing supports biometrics-specific international standards (ISO/IEC 19795/30107) and industry standards (for example, FIDO biometrics system certification), as well as ISO27001, ISO 9001 and other standards. We support technology, scenario and operational testing in line with ISO 19795, and can implement a wide range of presentation attack detection (PAD) testing to meet service requirements, plus focussed testing and evaluation of systems for demographic differentials. Quality assurance of biometric data is supported, meeting ISO 29794 requirements for a wide range of biometric modalities. Bespoke deep dive testing and red team penetration testing of biometric functionality is supported, covering the evaluation of wider cyber security considerations of biometric systems and novel attacks on specific security features.

Fighting climate change

The latest review of the science of climate change, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warned of an increased risk of extreme heatwaves, droughts, flooding, and a key temperature limit being broken in just over a decade. In response we are taking strong action on climate change, with a commitment to be carbon neutral in our own operations by 2030 and net zero across our whole supply chain by 2050. We are committed to science-based targets in line with the Paris Agreement's 1.5C target.
Most of our total emissions are generated in our supply chain and by customers. These are known as Scope 3 emissions. We're working with our suppliers, partners and stakeholders to make the changes needed to reach net zero by 2050.

To achieve this, we're developing plans to decarbonise key areas of our emissions footprint, particularly in our production line. We are doing everything we can to eliminate waste and support customers with changes they can make.

We tackle waste in three ways - by reducing loss within our own operations, working with suppliers, and supporting customers to prevent waste. To reduce the impact of packaging we aim to ensure packaging won’t find its way into landfill or the environment.

Covid-19 recovery

Our services are at the forefront of the recovery from Covid-19, providing testing, consultancy R&D and training in a range of technologies (biometrics, automatic age estimation and document authentication) that are key building blocks of digital identity service provision. Our work is a major component of digital identity schemes, providing assurance, consultancy and education around how the technologies work, how they provide value to services and to ensure that products and technologies used in digital identity services are fit for purpose.

In addition, we have an active policy of working to create opportunities for employment, re-training and other return to work opportunities for those left unemployed by Covid-19, which is particularly relevant given the high growth sector Ingenium is active in.

Our work directly supports those who have been most affected by Covid-19. Although the worst effects of the pandemic are over, there are still large numbers of people who are affected and by providing the services to support development of digital identity schemes, in particular to make them more accessible and inclusive, we are able to make a tangible contribution to helping those most affected.

The new ways of working that are emerging post-pandemic are directly benefiting from the services we provide. By evaluating technology underpinning digital services, performing security tests and providing support to service providers, we play a key role in supporting the development of remote working, secure and validated digital identities and the wider digital economy.

The use of digital identities by key services (for example the NHS App) makes significant efficiency savings for government departments and the wider public sector. Our service offering directly supports the roll out of these services.

Tackling economic inequality

We work in a fast moving and dynamic field. This environment facilitates opportunities, and we work closely with our delivery partners. Most of these partners are also modern, technology-focussed and developing new and novel products in a rapidly developing field. We work with our partners to maximise benefits to all stakeholders.

We have a policy of inclusion for recruitment. We actively seek to recruit a diverse workforce, on the basis of both skill and experience, but also promise and transferable skills.

We operate in an industry with well-known skills shortages and recruitment challenges. We work actively to ensure that we identify suitable candidates, with a flexible approach to demonstrable experience, transferable skills and interest to train and develop. We challenge expectations and limitations in the industry, recruiting outside the usual graduate routes, looking for aptitude and interest as well as technical experience and training.

We are an enthusiastic supporter of apprenticeship schemes to supplement recruitment. We also look to the local community to recruit staff, mixing short term appointments with long term training opportunities. We are working with our academic partners on strategic plans for funding PhDs to support our long term needs.

We partner with a range of organisations in a high tech environment developing cutting edge technology products and services. We work with them in a very dynamic environment to deliver short- and long-term product and services strategies. This is inherently a collaborative activity - bespoke requirements from us require a nimble and flexible supply chain and we work closely with our partners to ensure this is possible. This happens at a local, national and international level.

We have significant experience in cyber security - this informs both our daily work and strategic planning. We follow guidance and requirements and we have appropriate certifications for cyber security.

Equal opportunity

Our equal opportunity employer policy reflects our commitment to ensure equality and promote diversity in the workplace. Everyone should feel supported and valued to work productively so we are invested in treating everyone with respect and consideration.

Our policy applies to all employees, job candidates, contractors, stakeholders, partners and visitors.

Equal opportunity is for everyone, but it mainly concerns members of underrepresented groups as they’re the ones who are traditionally disadvantaged in the workplace. We don’t guarantee employment or promotions for them, but we will treat them fairly and avoid discriminating against them either via conscious or unconscious biases.

Being an equal opportunity employer means that we provide the same opportunities for hiring, advancement and benefits to everyone without discriminating due to protected characteristics like: age, sex / gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity / nationality, religion, disability, & medical history

We built our equal employment opportunity policy around preventive and affirmative actions to ensure fairness in all aspects of employment. These aspects include: hiring, training, evaluating performance, administering compensation, benefits, & terminating employees

We want to make sure that equal opportunity applies to other instances. For example, we don’t retaliate against employees and we are committed to prevent and resolve any kind of harassment against our employees, including sexual harassment.

HR is responsible for assessing our company’s processes and ensuring they are bias-free. Whenever we find biases interfering, we act immediately to refine our processes, train our people to combat their biases and protect possible victims of discrimination. We give everyone the chance to work in an environment where their rights are respected.

When someone discriminates, they will be subject to disciplinary action depending on the severity of their actions. For example, unintentionally offending a coworker might warrant a reprimand, but harassing someone systematically might result in demotion or termination.

Wellbeing

We respect the rights and dignity of all our staff and acknowledge that everyone who is involved with our organisation has a mental health and wellbeing need.

As part of our commitment to ensuring we tak mental health and wellbeing into consideration in all aspects of our business. We support staff to hold some level of mental health and wellbeing awareness training. We demonstrate how our staff can be welcoming towards people experiencing a problem with their mental health and well being. We respect that everyone needs to take care of their mental health and wellbeing and that some of them may need more support than others. We have key members of staff in our organisation who are happy to discuss how we might adapt to suit someone’s mental health and wellbeing needs. As an organisation we recognise how the pressures of work can affect people’s mental health and wellbeing. All staff are educated on the details of the mental health and wellbeing support available. All staff know how to raise concerns to protect others who are experiencing a mental health crises or identifying as at risk of self-harm or suicide as part of our procedures. We provide support and information on mental health and wellbeing and continue to share this with staff as they progress with us.
