Getting started with Isla is a straightforward and well-supported process. Each organisation is assigned a dedicated Technical Programme Manager who leads implementation and mobilisation from start to finish.
Training is delivered through a blended approach and tailored to different user roles. This includes live and recorded Microsoft Teams sessions, typically 45 minutes long, as well as onsite training to support clinical engagement and fine-tune pathway configuration. We also use a train-the-trainer and local champions model to build expertise within teams.
Users have access to a comprehensive online resource centre containing clinician manuals, video walkthroughs, and help articles. This also supports self-onboarding for teams that prefer flexible learning.
Onboarding can be role-specific. Clinicians are trained on data capture and referrals, while administrators receive focused training on user management, audit logs, and troubleshooting.
After go-live, Isla provides ongoing support. Platform support is available 24/7, with dedicated email and telephone help desks during business hours, 9am to 6pm.
Users can register securely using email and password, NHSmail, or CIS2, with optional mobile two-factor authentication.

Upon contract expiry or termination, Isla ensures secure data repatriation through a structured Exit Strategy and Plan. A transition team, established at least three months prior, manages the orderly transfer of end-user data, RBAC permissions, and organisational records.
Extraction methods: Isla provides several non-proprietary mechanisms for data transfer at no extra cost:
Structured feeds: Data can be output via HL7 standards for direct integration into Trust systems.
Document exports: Patient records and clinical data are available as PDFs for easy migration into Electronic Patient Records (EPRs).
Media & bulk data: Users can download individual images, videos, and audio files. Operational data can be filtered and exported as .csv files for auditing.
Cloud portability: Data stored via Firebase/GCP can be exported in common formats to prevent vendor lock-in.
Governance: Once data is successfully repatriated, the transition team oversees the removal of user access. All remaining data is then sanitised or deleted in strict accordance with data protection policies and the service agreement. - End-of-contract process

At the conclusion of the contract, Isla establishes a transition team at least three months prior to the end date. This team manages an orderly exit, including secure extraction and repatriation of all organisational and end-user data. Once data transfer is complete, user access is removed and data is securely sanitised in line with HMG Infosec Standard 5.
