For clients with existing platforms, we support ongoing evolution through custom technical and architectural audits.
These audits also cover ways of working to address additional undesired side-effects, such as ones caused by team alignment with technology platforms rather than product domains, and “feature factories” where teams focus on working through Jira tickets instead of end-user outcomes and value.
We are experts in product platforms and continuous delivery. We understand the complexities of digital product delivery at scale, and know the key to successful, sustainable digital product delivery is the ability to learn and iterate.
We audit current external and internal IaaS and PaaS hosting set-ups and optimise for financial, operational and organisational outcomes. - Planning service works with specific services

We provide in-hours support as standard as part of the project we are engaged with. In-hours support is available during normal working hours 9:00am-5:30pm.
Out-of-hours support has an associated callout cost that is agreed with the client taking in to account their individual needs. High priority tickets are raised when users unable to complete golden paths due to serious failure of a primary service affecting multiple end-users or customer’s staff. Medium priority tickets are raised for faults to secondary service causing medium business impact. These do not obstruct golden paths and workarounds are available. Low priority tickets are raised for cosmetic changes and those that do not affect site functionality.

Fighting climate change
Red Badger is committed to combating the climate crisis and encouraging our collaborators to do the same. As well as publishing several articles on how we can help fix the climate crisis through the circular economy and digital technology, we’ve also improved the facilities in our office space to be more sustainable by introducing better waste management practices and working with nearby companies to establish effective ways to reach net-zero targets.
Red Badger works with the Global Sustainability Innovator Dr Chris Brauer (Goldsmiths Professor of Innovation and World Economic Forum global strategist) on our sustainability and carbon reduction plans. Red Badger is at the forefront of exploring emissions reduction through the adoption of efficient codebases and effective development practices.
We champion green software development principles and believe carbon emissions and power/energy use can be dramatically cut with well architected and considered engineering patterns. Reducing and removing overhead in maintaining (for instance) large scale container infrastructure and complex high level language codebases. Replacing them with smaller, faster, safer and more portable binaries (for instance developed in Rust) and hosting them is WASM and scale-to-zero environments. We have developed an ecosystem of software vendors, service providers and edge compute providers that adopt these principles and work with the Rust Foundation and Open UK to champion these approaches.
We are building a flagship digital product for a large retailer launching a sustainability proposition. Red Badger have been core to designing and building this digital product, with an aim to allow customers to reuse, repair and resell luxury items in order to reduce waste in the fashion industry. Building great products that make a positive impact on the world around us and align with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals is something we strive to achieve.Tackling economic inequality
In terms of using our skills for good, Red Badger launched a digital product as part of a pro bono project for the ESMA network. The ESMA network is an Employee Social Mobility Alliance and its purpose is to enable social mobility and educate on some of the key issues that impact diverse candidates and prevent them from getting jobs, internships or opportunities. This helps to address some of the limiting, root cause issues that prevent diverse candidates from progressing in the workforce.
Red Badger is the instigator and founding member of Mission Beyond, a new national charitable organisation dedicated to building the national digital infrastructure for social mobility, offering equitable access to opportunity for the UK 1m+ underrepresented and under resourced young people from diverse backgrounds.Equal opportunity
Red Badger are member signatories of the Tech Talent Charter, a non-profit organisation leading a movement to address inequality in the UK tech sector. Red Badger is also a Disability Confident Committed employer and offers genderless shared parental leave. We have worked closely with German Bencii, founder of Code Your Future, a Non-profit organisation supporting disadvantaged people with the dream of becoming software developers, and mentoring graduates until they gain full-time employment. We have donated laptops, office space and time from our staff to support his incredible initiative.
Red Badger has Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) as part of our core strategy. We have set clear, measurable goals focusing, initially, on ethnic & gender diversity within our organisation. We aim to achieve 50/50 gender diversity, as well as aiming for 40% of our employees to be from non-white backgrounds. These goals will be reviewed annually to assess our progression whilst also carrying out activities to better improve our understanding of diversity & inclusion, including wage gap analysis and voluntary company surveys on diversity and inclusion related data. We’ve incorporated new software into our recruitment process, allowing us to measure the diversity of channels used for advertising vacancies.Wellbeing
Red Badger introduced core hours to allow employees to be able to fit work around their lives in an effort to increase equity primarily for those with caring responsibility, as well as enabling female employees to feel safe to exercise outdoors in the winter months, and providing more flexibility for all as a result. We also offer genderless, shared parental leave. Red Badger also has a number of employees who are certified Mental Health First Aiders, people who have been trained to recognise common signs of poor mental health and how best to provide support to those who may be in distress. We also offer 24/7 mental health support through WeCare, as well as personal or professional counselling through our Employee Assistance Programme.
Our employee-led working group, the social value task force, looks for opportunities for Red Badger to have an impact in our communities and as a result of their efforts, Red Badger now matches PAYE charitable contributions to a charity of employees’ choice, as well as a stipend to match any out-of-hours time spent volunteering or contributing to Open Source projects. We also created a new policy which gives all employees a volunteer day, a paid day off to contribute to a volunteering activity of their choice.
Red Badger has also worked with the government’s Tackling Loneliness task force, leading a collaborative workshop to help uncover how digital solutions can be scaled to support the reduction of loneliness across the UK. We deploy an extensive range of mental wellbeing and psychological safety at work services and methods.
