- How the planning service works
- The AtkinsRéalis approach to developing data standards is underpinned by a number of approaches that achieve the greatest level of benefits and is aligned to the interoperability principles laid down in the Government Digital Service Technology Code of Practice and the Government Service Standard. We strongly recommend that any data standards effort is underpinned by a suitable governance framework for decision making and approval of data standards. Rather than develop standards in isolation, we create and maintain a business data architecture that defines the scope of all the data required to support all activities undertaken by the enterprise and is the basis for iterative development because standards need to evolve as experience of using them is gained. Our approach i) Scoping: consulting stakeholders on the business scope for the challenges based on an initial analysis of what processes and data are involved in relation to a business need, ii) Requirements Analysis: confirming our analysis of the business process models and underpinning data requirements with stakeholders, iii) Standards Definition: creating the data standards and seeking stakeholder feedback prior to approval and publication. We optimise standards at the enterprise, rather than local, level as wider applicability achieves the greatest level of benefit.

- How the setup or migration service works
- Moving to the cloud means moving data repositories and data sets to the cloud and data standardisation helps you to realise more of the expected benefits of cloud computing. We can help define the benefits of moving to a data standard in a business case or benefits analysis. The standards that we help you develop or implement make data uniform which means that data that are sourced from multiple, diverse products, systems and organisations are consistent, predictable and homogenous. Standards help to break down data silos, avoid rekeying or expensive manual data transformations. This increases efficiency and enables data analysis and reporting across multiple data sets. As well as developing standards, we can guide you to compliance with internal, industry, regulatory and business partner standards as part of your cloud data management strategy.

Quality assurance and performance testing

- How the quality assurance and performance testing works
- Typically, data standards will be implemented as part of a product or system initiative and the quality assurance of the new product or system should cover the validation of data standardisation requirements along with other functional and non-functional requirements. We can assure and verify conformance with data standards during the software development lifecycle either as an integral part of a software development that we are delivering or independently. We can help you to capture the benefits of data standardisation as part of the business case, ensure that conformance to data standards is correctly captured during the requirements analysis, and continue to support and assure that conformance is actually achieved during the design and development phases. We will design and implement tests that ensure that data standards have been correctly implemented. All our UK businesses are independently certified as achieving the ISO 9001:2015 quality management standard.

We support clients in safeguarding what we do today to enhance the environment and protect future generations from harm, this is fundamental to AtkinsRéalis’ sustainability policy and Sustainable Business Strategy.
We have a series of approaches that we use through the delivery of our cloud projects, including:
• Considering whole life carbon when designing systems and assets to minimise carbon.
• Utilising a variety of tools (appropriate to the sector and client) to assess whole life carbon from embodied to in-life to end of life.
• Raising awareness about climate change to stakeholders of the projects to ensure clear understanding.Tackling economic inequality

We are committed to creating a healthy future for communities and the wider economy. We do this through creating new businesses, jobs and skills and working with supply chain partners to create capacity and resilience.
We recognise some of the digital and cyber skills shortages facing the UK and are actively participating and promoting careers from school age children through to lifelong training. This is often delivered through STEM outreach schemes such as Governors for Schools programme and CyberFirst. This can include upskilling activities delivered by some of our highly skilled professionals ranging from interview and job preparation (e.g., CV support, Mock interviews) through to technical training (e.g., cyber security, digital skillset, STEM-based careers, supply chain engagement). We promote our full-time opportunities to priority groups based on the area of operation. (e.g., people living in regionally and nationally deprived areas /disabled people/ people who are underrepresented in the industry including Women, BAME, LGBT+ etc.).
We understand the opportunities a diverse supply chain can bring to complement our overall solution we are providing to our clients, such as innovation, improved productivity, novel or new technologies or niche skillsets. As a large organisation we have a large network of approved suppliers from diverse backgrounds including small and medium enterprises that we can utilise as required. These suppliers go through our due diligence process to ensure they meet our standards (i.e. around cyber security) and we are working with suppliers who share our values.Equal opportunity
