Training is provided for the ongoing management of the solution, whereby any required future changes and additions can be undertaken by internal staff.

Training is provided in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of products for staff within the organisation. Training materials are also produced to accompany the training delivered, these are embedded into the SharePoint EDRMS.

How the setup or migration service works
Mapping and migration workshops identify the data that needs to be retained and moved to the new EDRMS built in SharePoint Online. This data can be from legacy network drives or existing SharePoint sites. The intelligent migrations retain metadata, fix broken links and apply agreed DROT rules and the retention. Pre and post migration reports provide further data analysis and interrogation of mapped and migrated data.
Support and guidance is provided to deal with management of legacy data repositories.

Fighting climate change

Minimising our carbon footprint is not an afterthought for LGi, it’s been in our DNA from the birth of the company. We’ve invested in technology and created internal processes that fully support remote working for every single one of our consultants and support staff. This minimises travel and disruption while ensuring they deliver value and results for our clients.

In the past year, 95% of our internal meetings (including directors) were held virtually. Across all of our functions, we have the technical infrastructure to mobilise teams and run large, complex programmes remotely. Where face to face meetings / sessions are required, these are carefully planned with our clients to ensure maximum value.

LGi is a paperless organisation internally. We only ever use paper for external communications when mandated by the external organisation.

LGi were early adopters of electric vehicles, the first being acquired in 2018.

Our webinars (which are frequently attended by 100+ local authorities at a time) are all conducted remotely, allowing people to gain valuable insights and knowledge without the need for travel.

One of the key criteria for choosing our technical hosting partner was the impact on the environment. We chose a certified green web foundation partner, meaning that our data centre infrastructure is powered by 100% renewable energy and uses up to 50% less power than a traditional hosting provider. They are also a member of the Ecologi community and to date have funded the planting of 12,961 trees and offset 181 tonnes of CO2.

Tackling economic inequality

Our internal accounting measures set aside a portion of our profits to be distributed to worthy causes. These are national charities so will be delivering community benefit in all areas of the country.

Equal opportunity

To nurture future talent and provide greater opportunity, we have recently employed a local university student to help with complex data analysis and management. This fulfilled her University’s requirements for practical, relevant experience to count towards her qualification and gain valuable experience in a real world business setting. We intend to continue this practice.

Our Strategy & Commercial Director is an official Business Role model the Welsh Government to promote business ownership and entrepreneurship. This involves speaking to colleges and universities about the realities of running a business and giving practical advice to undergraduates who will become future industry leaders.
