A customer's data and environment is contained within a single-tenant VM. Imprivata encrypts its databases via the AWS Aurora RDS service. In addition, customer data in the EC2 instances is also encrypted. AWS does not have access to Imprivata customer data due to this encryption.

Imprivata AI services are deployed in AWS. These AI/Anomaly detection services are deployed in the region with their PPI instance. There is a subset of the customer’s data deployed to customer-specific AWS S3 buckets for processing. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Audit source log files and authoritative data files are transferred to the solution via secure FTP (SFTP) or secure copy. This traffic is established and encrypted using a key pair generated by the customer. The customer shares the public key with Imprivata, and this key pair will be used for the encryption of file delivery traffic. The customer performs key management.
All access to the customer's PPI instance occurs via a site to site VPN.
