- Vulnerability management approach
- We scan our Internet connected assets using a combination of tools for on-demand network and continuous scanning with a deployed agent. These include Nessus, Lynis, and GCP's built-in tools. Findings identified through scanning are then evaluated by our Information Security team for false positives and are prioritized. We adhere to standard industry practices, e.g. CVSS. Vulnerabilities are then either removed (fixed, patched,...), mitigated with a security control, or deemed an accepted risk (which is rare). Our goal is to eliminate entire categories of vulnerabilities rather than chasing individual issues.

Our Cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform is protected through its Security Command Centre which features vulnerability scanning, log scanning and alerting, along with wider cloud system configuration analytics to ensure we have not deployed vulnerable infrastructure.
The company G-Suite features comprehensive user account management and direct integration with Google OAuth services. This system also provides intelligent alerts regarding user access logs and potential incidents. - Incident management type
- Undisclosed
- Incident management approach
-
There are several ways our Information Security team can become aware of an incident: a dedicated e-mail inbox, a Slack message from an employee, or automated alerts from our SIEM.
We have templates ready for the most common types of incidents, e.g. "an employee had his laptop stolen". There is a simple path of escalation from our Security Operations Engineers to our Chief Technology Officer and Chief Executive Officer. Individual incidents are documented and managed in a dedicated Kanban board with a trail of available evidence attached.

Fighting climate change
We will comply fully with all legislation, regulations and industry good practice in the recovery, handling, transfer, re-use and recycling of materials and other waste products.
We have an aim to achieve net zero carbon by 2030.
We have sustainable commitments to reduce single use plastics (e.g. we have recently installed a new water cooler/dispenser at our Workshop to reduce single use plastic bottles).
Promoting remote meetings where possible. We take a tiered approach to determining when a client visit is necessary and when a remote meeting might be more appropriate. Within the UK, our policies and Directors strongly encourage use of public transport wherever possible.
Utilising our fleet of hybrid vehicles.
Promoting Cycle to Work schemes and strongly discouraging private vehicle use for commuting.
Procuring sustainable materials.
Reducing installation of virgin materials by lobbying and encouraging reuse of existing assets wherever possible, such as when installing our sensors on existing roadside assets rather than installing new poles.
Actively sharing best-practice on reducing carbon emissions with suppliers.Covid-19 recovery
In response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, VivaCity is fully committed to supporting communities in their recovery efforts through our cutting-edge traffic solution.
VivaCity’s traffic monitoring sensors enable cities and transportation agencies to gather real-time data on traffic flows, congestion, and use of public spaces. By analysing this data, transport planners can implement new and adaptive traffic management strategies to accommodate changing travel behaviours and ensure the smooth flow of essential goods, services, and people.
During the pandemic, our sensors supported the implementation of social distancing measures by providing insights into the distance between pedestrians and cyclists, along with the number, duration and proximity of interactions. We provided this information to the Department for Transport to help monitor compliance with public health guidelines.Tackling economic inequality
Our Site teams will stay in local, independently owned B&Bs and hotels (where possible)
We will prioritise employing an independent, local provider for traffic management (where possible)
We will prioritise hiring a MEWP from a local, independent supplier (where possible).
We will upskill incumbent contractors and the customer’s Direct Labour Organisation staff to help install sensors.
Furthermore, for less economically prosperous regions of the country, pressure on Local Authorities finances mean a greater need to most effectively invest that money in improving road safety. Our sensors will ensure that spend on new traffic schemes is justified by robust statistics.Equal opportunity
VivaCity is fully committed to promoting equal opportunities within our company through the way we manage our organisation and provide services to our customers.
In line with our Equal Opportunities Policy (which we are happy to send to the customer), we believe that all persons should have equal rights to recognition of their human dignity, and to have equal opportunities to be educated, to work, receive services and to participate in society.
Specific ways that we promote diversity and equality at VivaCity include:
Continually reviewing our recruitment and interview process to reduce bias
Identifying key trends in the market, including learning from what other companies are doing successfully to promote equal opportunities, along with diversity and inclusion.
Offering flexible working hours to all staff, so that those from a background that may require flexible working (e.g. parents) are able to be equal parts of the team.
Being a member of the Tech Talent Charter to support increasing gender diversity in tech.
Being a Level 2 Disability Confident Committed employer
Being a Living Wage employer.
Offering flexible Bank Holidays so that employees of non-Christian faiths can celebrate religious holidays without needing to take annual leave.
Offering enhanced parental leave support, which has been taken up by multiple members of our senior leadership team.Wellbeing
VivaCity prioritises the wellbeing of local communities by serving as a key aid for designing neighbourhoods that foster physical health and mental wellness. This is achieved through our support of urban planning initiatives focused on developing pedestrian and cyclist-friendly infrastructure, such as dedicated cycle lanes and signal prioritisation.
