Proofpoint monitors accounts on a daily basis, and we review privileged access to production monthly. The customer controls the provisioning of administrative permissions for customer users within the customer account. Confirmation of the review of user access controls (non-privileged and privileged) can be found in control CC6.3 of the latest Proofpoint SOC 2 Type II audit report.

  • Identity federation with existing provider (for example Google Apps)
  • Username or password
  • Other
Description of management access authentication
All logical access to the Proofpoint production environment, where Proofpoint's SaaS services are hosted, is via a two-factor authenticated VPN that requires the use of a unique user ID/password combination and a key fob-generated PIN. This is enforced through the use of a network configuration that prevents all remote connections except those through the two-factor authenticated VPN.
