Planning

Planning service
Yes
How the planning service works
Our team of experts will prioritise user and client needs to deliver rapid cost-effective prototypes. We achieve this through robust testing, expansive user research and agile working practices, leveraging our extensive experience in alpha phase delivery for cloud and data services.

We will adapt our delivery framework to align with the client’s goals and constraints, but in general we follow a four step approach:

* Review discovery findings, assess the problem space and map out the user journey, identifying any pain points. This journey map will be continually re-evaluated and updated throughout the alpha phase.
* Cost-effective solutions. Our multidisciplinary specialists bring their respective domain knowledge and tools to quickly develop prototypes and test the riskiest assumptions first..
* Quality user research. We always endeavour to recruit a diverse range of users for testing, with particular attention to accessibility needs.
* Iterative Agile approach. To optimise our service delivery, we run daily ceremonies and weekly planning meetings to ensure that we are adapting our strategy and adjusting our goals to fit the user needs.

We adhere fully to GDS standards and embrace open-source principles.

How the training service works
Simplicity and accessibility are at the core of our design philosophy, but we also appreciate the diversity of expertise among users and developers alike. We provide comprehensive training programmes tailored to your needs, whether it’s on-site mentorship, remote learning or structured teaching courses.

We are committed to the knowledge-sharing phase of the development cycle, ensuring that your in-house staff are fully prepared to adopt, refine and expand upon the delivered prototypes. Software solutions are also thoroughly documented in a user-friendly manner for any future developers.

Setup and migration

Setup or migration service available
Yes
How the setup or migration service works
We will seamlessly transition your systems from existing legacy environments to scalable cloud-native architecture. Our migration strategy is designed in accordance with GDS standards to provide your cloud setup with resilience and security. This will mitigate potential disruptions and enhance recovery processes, ensuring robust infrastructure that withstands failures.

We incorporate Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) to streamline development and deployment, facilitating rapid, risk-reduced updates and improved overall quality. This cycle guarantees that new features are efficiently developed, tested, and deployed.

Furthermore, we ensure that all new services adhere to WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards, reinforcing our commitment to creating accessible and inclusive solutions that cater to all users.

Quality assurance and performance testing

Quality assurance and performance testing service
Yes
How the quality assurance and performance testing works
We help organisations deliver safe, robust, mature and resilient data-driven services and systems.

All technology delivery work we undertake includes automated testing, continuous integration and delivery into a production environment.

We employ a combination of manual and automated testing to address both functional and non-functional aspects. This includes stress testing to evaluate the performance under various load conditions, and usability testing to ensure the interface is intuitive and meets government accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 Level AA).

As GOV.UK continues to migrate its infrastructure to the cloud, we recognise the need for a scalable testing framework that integrates continuous deployment and continuous integration. We have adopted the ‘bug surface’ testing standard, where each area on the bug surface is assigned its own unique testing strategy.

Security is paramount; thus, we conduct vulnerability assessments and security audits regularly, reinforcing the prototype’s resilience against potential threats.

Feedback from these tests is critical, leading to iterative improvements that enhance the product's quality and user satisfaction. Our dedicated QA team works closely with developers to implement changes rapidly, ensuring that each iteration of the prototype advances toward optimal functionality and user experience.

Fighting climate change

Register Dynamics Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030.

In 2021 we performed a Baseline Emissions Footprint calculation which showed that the majority of our carbon footprint comes from home office electricity usage, plus a minor contribution from commuting travel.

Scope 1 emissions are zero, Scope 2 are at 1.64tCO2e, and Scope 3 are at 0.08tCO2e. This creates a total of 1.72tCO2e total emissions per year.

The following environmental management measures and carbon reduction projects have been implemented since then to ensure we are able to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2030:
- Encouraging staff to work from home and to adopt carbon neutral energy from renewable sources.
- Encouraging staff to commute using mass transit or where possible, net zero transport.
- Where possible with our customers, to aim for complete remote working to avoid business travel.
- Encouraging and supporting clients to adopt technology and tools which reduce carbon emissions wherever possible.

Equal opportunity

Register Dynamics is an equal opportunities employer and we believe in the benefits in having a diverse workforce. We aim to create a supportive company culture by:
- Encouraging open, honest and transparent communication.
- Maintaining a flat hierarchy where everyone’s ideas and input is valued equally.
- Creating a weekly ‘Dealer’s choice’ - which is a time and space for any staff member to talk about anything they want to (i.e. work related or not). This acts as a learning, sharing and discussions platform.
- Working in a fully flexible and adaptive way to take into account different locations, time zones and other family, health or complex life commitments.
- Having regular feedback sessions in retrospectives and acting on the output of these.
- Creating a budget along with the time and space for all staff to access training opportunities including classroom-based courses, attending conferences and for self-directed learning.

Wellbeing

At Register Dynamics, we place a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and work life balance. It is at the heart of our core values. We aim to create a supportive and positive working environment by:
- Enabling and championing remote and asynchronous working so that our team can work flexibility in terms of location, when and how they want
- Offering each team member a budget for equipment so that they can tailor their work stations and working environment to their specific needs.
- Encouraging people to take regular breaks away from their desks, to take and to enjoy their weekends and holidays and to have the space they need for their interests both inside and outside of work
- Meeting together flexibility and holding social events to enable staff to come together in a non-work related environment.
- Supporting new parents with one of the best maternity packages available in the industry along with flexible keeping in touch days, a return to work bonus and discretionary leave for child-related health appointments.
- Being sensitive to each other's cultures, ethical boundaries and personal challenges, and nurturing a team that respects and harnesses these differences and supports each other through challenging times.
