Planning

- How the planning service works
-
Carbon60 will work with the client to identify from their business case exactly what requirements they have, the skills and experience currently available, and what services they are intending to provide. Full Software as a Service (SaaS) model, using their own bespoke software, Full Platform as a Service (PaaS) using available online tools and components or a toolkit PaaS using standard parts to provide non-standard processes in a managed environment.
Carbon60 will help the client to identify the best and most cost effective option for supporting this service be it through the clients own hardware or the use of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) on a pay as you go basis. We will also help the client to identify the scope of their market and the appropriate deployment model they require. Public cloud, Community cloud, Private cloud or Hybrid cloud.
With these requirements defined Carbon60 will assist the client in creating an Implementation plan using one of the standard methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum or Prince 2, dependent on the client’s requirements, resources, familiarity and preference. This plan will include costs, documentation, data migration, customisation, integration with other systems and schedules for training. - Planning service works with specific services

Carbon60 will work with the client to identify their requirements by conducting a co-ordinated business analysis to produce a business model. It will also consider business continuity and disaster recovery scenarios, such as cloud service disruption or cancellation. This model will then be used to carry out an initial threat and risk assessment for the client.
The business model and risk assessment provide a basis for determining mandatory and desirable requirements using a standard practice description, such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).The business case is then written, capturing business needs, how cloud computing will meet this need and how it aligns with the clients requirements. Ensuring they have a clear and detailed definition for the contractual terms they require.
Carbon60 will support the client in the preparation of an exit strategy to document contingency plans to migrate records securely to another solution should circumstances require, whilst maintaining full business continuity.
Carbon60 will aid the client in the creation of a project and team to manage both the activities needed in house and those needed to support on-going operations. This would also include the identification of any additional skills and training requirements for their staff and assistance in its provision. - Setup or migration service is for specific cloud services

- How the quality assurance and performance testing works
- Using Carbon60's comprehensive Cloud Cyber Security Framework we help provide buyers with quality assurance and performance testing. We can help organisations to effectively achieve the benefits that Cloud Computing can deliver, whilst minimising the risks and information assurance challenges associated with the transformation. The Framework we provide will identify, quantify, prioritise and manage operational, business and financial risks with cyber causes. It is based on international standards and industry best practice, and has 3 stages. Stage 1, rapidly identify an organisation’s obvious areas of cyber risk (technical, management and human), in order to speed up management by providing focus for future work. Stage 2, based on Cyber Reconnaissance, conduct a focussed and prioritised risk assessment. This will support selection and prioritisation of remediation efforts. Stage 3, provision of targeted, coherent Cyber Security Services to mitigate/manage risks identified. We will provide experienced independent consultants who can provide the knowledge required to assure Cloud services in line with current CESG, government and commercial guidelines. This includes potentially complex scenarios involving cross domain solutions and highly sensitive data.

Fighting climate change
We’re committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050 and will set UK-wide targets through a public commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative by year end 2024. Our decarbonisation targets will eliminate Scopes 1 & 2 emissions from UK operations by 2030. Our annual Carbon Reduction Plan captures our achievements and makes our commitments public.
Being open and transparent about our carbon footprint, and sharing our journey to Net Zero, is key to building and retaining the trust of our staff, customers, suppliers, communities, and investors.
Our other environmental protection initiatives we will adopt in our G-Cloud service provision include:
1) Travel. We promote online meetings rather than travel.
2) ICT. Prioritise re-use or energy efficient and ethically sourced purchases.
3) Utilities. We only purchase electricity generated by renewable energy.
4) Paper consumption / consumables e.g., recycled, recyclable, double sided, black and white printing.
5) Waste disposal of electronic devices in line with the Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013.
We will capture and monitor data, quantify, analyse, measure against targets, and report the impact of our initiatives, seeking feedback from staff, Authority, and stakeholders on how well we have performed and what actions are required.Tackling economic inequality
Our initiatives vary from financial investments in local communities, appointment of local Small Medium Enterprises (SME) on larger more complex contracts and supporting career progression leading to greater earning potential.
Working hand in glove with our diversity initiatives, we will assess the following for every G-Cloud call-off to achieve equity in employment/skills/pay:
1) Prioritise local job applicants from deprived areas where possible.
2) Promote high-earning careers in STEM subjects through schools’ outreach, addressing the digital skills gap.
3) Provide CV/Interview workshops for unemployed/underemployed to help secure work.
4) Fund and manage training and apprenticeships for our workforce.
5) Provide our people with the platforms, confidence, and reassurance to be treated equitably in regards pay and promotion.
6) Prioritise purchases from SMEs/subcontractors based locally to site.
7) Prompt Payment <30 days (typically faster) to support our supply chain.
We will capture and monitor data, quantify, analyse, measure against targets, and report the impact of our initiatives, seeking feedback from staff, Authority, and stakeholders on how well we have performed and what actions are required.Equal opportunity
Our objective is to address equality of opportunity challenges, understand and deliver best practice through positive action, flexibility, adaptation, and support mechanisms. For each call-off we will design a social value proposition that leverages our focus on:
1) Supporting ex-military personnel find work
2) Supporting disability accessibility initiatives
3) Flexible/remote working arrangements to match all lifestyles and backgrounds
1) Training our people regarding equality / equity / unconscious bias
2) Targeting diverse recruits through specialist tools aimed at service leavers, women and trainees.
Our successes with the MOD are underpinned by our targeted hiring of ex-military personnel which remains core to our recruitment strategy. Our apprenticeship schemes complement this through upskilling a workforce with the corporate and digital skills needed by our customers.
To further diversify and complement our ex-services workforce, we work with PETA training providers, to access local communities, students, and graduates for recruitment through colleges with a target of 25% of new apprentices from groups underrepresented in the workforce.
To further enhance the future talent pipeline, our schools’ outreach initiatives promote STEM learning as a path towards high-earning careers, addressing the digital skills gap.
We will capture and monitor data, quantify, analyse, measure against targets, and report the impact of our initiatives, seeking feedback from staff, Authority, and stakeholders on how well we have performed and what actions are required.
