How the training service works
Change Network aims enables transformation that sticks. We provide full business change management support to ensure effective development, design and implementation of software solutions. Our offer includes training support, where we complete a Learning Needs Assessment by role, understanding the difference between current ways of working and new ways of working, so that training can be appropriately designed and deployed. We also seek to understand users, so training most appropriately meets their needs. Our experienced trainers develop Training Plans and related materials that ensure training is not considered a 'one and done' activity, but is sustained at an appropriate level throughout project delivery and implementation, and provides the organisation with materials to use on an ongoing basis thereafter (e.g. for future induction).

Fighting climate change

Change Network's Social Value Policy demonstrates our commitment to fighting climate change, with a specific pledge to support "Changing our habits, and encouraging others to do the same, to protect our environment with the ultimate aim of ‘doing no harm". Our commitments include: Minimising travel and using public or shared travel wherever possible. Minimising waste creation - ensuring we only print when it is essential to do so, do not use single use plastic and seek to recycle our components, including ICT kit wherever facilities enable us to do so. Providing carbon literacy training for all employees. Developing a 'Do no Harm' Carbon reduction plan that enables us to baseline our Carbon footprint and accelerate our intent to move towards net carbon zero over time. Our commitments are measured on an ongoing basis at Board level.

Covid-19 recovery

Change Network recognises the impact that Covid 19 has had across the UK and that alongside the obvious public health impacts that it has had, and continues to have, it has exacerbated existing health and economic inequalities, impacted mental health and wellbeing and, for some, has had an impact on levels of trust in government . Change Network recognises that the impact of Covid is different across the different geographies that we serve. As such, we do not take a 'one size fits all' approach and are committed to working with our partners at a local level to understand their specific needs and to agree social value together, so that we best impact local outcomes. Examples of the types of social value activity that we can offer include support for skills development, digital inclusion initiatives, careers support in schools, work placements. Given our partnership approach, we are not prescriptive and for any engagement seek first to understand local need and to respond to it appropriately.

Tackling economic inequality

Change Network recognises the structural inequalities that exist in the UK economy both within, and between different geographical areas. In delivering social value at a local level, we work with organisations to understand what matters most to them and tailor our support accordingly. Within our Social Value Policy, we have a specific commitment to "Inspiring and supporting young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds." This includes: Seeking to grow young talent, providing supported opportunities for employment, training, and experience. Provide at least two work placement opportunities for young people during the course of each year, with a specific focus on supporting people who are most disadvantaged due to socio-economic factors, disability or neuro-diversity. Working with schools in at least one economically deprived area to create and deliver content (and / or mentoring) that supports improved awareness of career opportunities, employability skills. Above and beyond our direct commitments, we work with our clients to understand what matters most to them and to jointly define social value support that adds value to the places and people they serve.

Equal opportunity

Change Network's Social Value Policy includes a commitment to "Challenge inequality and actively promote equality and diversity." To achieve this, our policy is supported by specific promises to: Be an inclusive employer, embedding best practice sourcing and selection methods that encourage a diverse workforce, fostering a culture of belonging and promote employee health and wellbeing, including enabling flexible working. Champion and ensure we pay the Real Living Wage to all staff. We are an accredited Living Wage Employer. Be part of the Disability Confident scheme and demonstrate progress within it. We are Disability Confident Committed and working towards Level 2 currently. Actively encourage representative involvement in our delivery work, based on local demographics, ensuring underrepresented groups are able and encouraged to be involved. Provide all our staff with mandatory Equality and Diversity training. Develop and maintain an accreditation process for all associates and partners that requires them to demonstrate their understanding of, and commitment to, inclusive ways of working. Given the background of our founders, we have a deep personal commitment to equality of opportunity and take our commitments to Equal Opportunities seriously. In addition to our explicit Policy commitments, we work with our clients to shape Social Value commitments that meet their needs.

Wellbeing

Change Network recognises the criticality of wellbeing to our workforce and to the wider communities that we serve. We offer wellbeing support to our own employees, and encourage a culture based on our five core TRUST values: Working Together with our clients and across our teams, being Restless in our quest for improved outcomes, Understanding first before seeking solutions, being Strategic in our approach, avoiding silos and being Truthful at all times. Our values are supported by a set of expected behaviours that embed kindness, connected and supportive ways of working and people focus into everything that we do. Each employee also receives two days per year to use on voluntary activities that have a positive impact on the wellbeing of the communities that we serve. Typically these days are used for Community Engagement, organising or participating in community events and volunteering to support social cohesion and wellbeing at a local level. We leave it to our team members to determine how best to use this time. Additionally, we actively promote physical activity, recognising the value this has to our own workforce, and more broadly to society as a whole. As an example this includes providing standing desks for our team members, encouraging walking and physical activity on a regular basis.
