Our software engineers and project managers will work with your project team to define and refine your requirements and plan the support and development of your custom cloud software. We can hold requirements gathering workshops and interviews to help you define the business problem that the software will solve, analyse user and stakeholder needs, develop use cases and user flows, and turn these into software features to be developed. We will identify technical and business constraints that need to be considered in the solution design. Our analysts can also review any existing technical documentation and production or prototype code and produce a gap analysis.
Once a scope is established, we will design a cloud service architecture that meets your requirements and constraints, including code components, data schemas, recommended configurations, and security, and provide a fixed-price or time-and-materials estimate. Our project managers will plan the development as a series of agile sprints, allowing the project team to review progress and change the scope if required. - Planning service works with specific services

Our developers use automated tests, linting tools and peer code review to maintain quality, reliability and security of code during development. We have a dedicated testing team who will create and run manual test scripts, ensure consistent behaviour on a range of modern browsers and mobile devices, and check that the UX meets accessibility standards. All public-facing solutions are also penetration tested. Load testing and performance testing are included if in scope.
We are ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus certified. For medical device development, we work to ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and IEC 62304 standards.

Fighting climate change
System C is committed to delivering environmental benefits and effective stewardship of the environment. We have a Carbon Reduction Plan in place with a net zero target of 2040, which includes a commitment to a 50% carbon emissions reduction by 2030 and an acceleration plan with the aim of achieving net zero no later than 2040. Our Environmental, Social and Governance committee work to monitor our environmental impact and develop activities and policies to reduce our carbon emissions. We adopt several policies to encourage our customers to align with our net zero activities, whilst supporting them reduce their carbon footprints. This includes engaging with them remotely, which minimises the need for travel, as well as utilising data centres with strong net zero goals. As part of our continuing commitment to fighting climate change, we also encourage our staff to support our environmental objectives. We offer public transport season tickets, Cycle to Work, and Salary Sacrifice Electric Car schemes. We also discourage paper-use in our offices through increased screen availability and have incorporated both hybrid and remote working to reduce the carbon footprint of commuting. As part of our efforts to promote environmental protection and improvement, we also proactively seek to take on projects that make a positive environmental impact (and will continue doing so as part of this service provision). For example, we previously developed a transport model, used by a Local Authority, which had the benefit of enabling that Local Authority to plan out net zero emissions zones in its city centre. Moreover, where applicable, we will seek to incorporate design and coding practices into our software development procedures that minimises the environmental impact of the products that we create.Covid-19 recovery
We are committed to supporting COVID-19 recovery efforts. As our clients come from across the public and private sectors, including healthcare and Local Authority organisations, we have closely observed the impact of COVID-19. We have also assisted in efforts to build and develop solutions that have supported those most affected. One solution we have developed is the QCovid Risk Calculator, which analyses medical records to determine those most at risk of contracting COVID-19. Prior to the initial vaccine rollout, this was used by NHS Digital to perform a Population Risk Assessment and update the Shielded Patients List, helping ensure the most vulnerable were protected from the virus. Furthering this, we have developed our own not-for-profit volunteer recruitment website, known as Ami. This enables organisations, notably Local Authorities and VCFSEs, to recruit volunteers to help people in need. In the aftermath of the pandemic, it helped one Local Authority manage the increase in new volunteers it received, enabling that organisation to support its local community during the recovery period. Additionally, we supported our staff throughout the pandemic, by promoting hybrid and remote working to ensure safety. This has extended into the recovery effort, to include supporting flexible working arrangements with both our employees and customers. This has all helped to promote a better work-life balance and supported our customers maximise their productivity.Tackling economic inequality
We are committed to leveraging our resources, skills, and networks to tackle economic inequality. To help incubate SMEs and drive future business, jobs and growth, we sponsor business accelerator programmes (and have also supported local charitable organisations). Furthermore, we have offered to deliver talks to unemployed residents in our customers’ local areas, to help provide these groups with CV and interview advice as well as guidance around pursuing tech-based careers. We are a major employer across the UK, which helps to drive economic stability and growth. We also have an ambitious target to increase headcount, made possible through our remote and hybrid working policies (which also help to eliminate locational hiring bias). Furthermore, staff involved in delivery of this service provision are offered generous training allowances to support retention and continuous upskilling. All our employees and subcontractors are paid a fair wage, and we actively monitor the job market to review salaries and rates. We are committed to increasing the diversity of our workforce, positively encourage talented new entrants regardless of educational heritage, and recruit and train a significant volume of new employees each year. As part of this service provision, we will develop software with economic inequality and digital exclusion in mind by embedding best practices around iterative user research and alignment with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.Equal opportunity
We are committed to promoting and providing equal opportunities. We have robust Equality and Diversity policies in place, including hybrid/remote/flexible working policies, diversity training, and Gender Pay reporting. Our DN&I committee regularly monitors the impact of our Diversity and Equality policies. We continuously take individuality into consideration and invest time, money, and resources in our people, helping support mental health, wellbeing, and neurodiversity in the workplace. We are committed to providing equal opportunities to our workforce and encourage new entrants with diverse skills and talents, regardless of their educational heritage. We also support our staff with progression and training opportunities, including through annual reviews and generous training allowances. We are a living wage employer, and our staff are paid at a high rate or Living Wage, regardless of where they live. As part of this service provision, we will also place paramount focus on following Web Content Accessibility Guidelines best practices, and, where applicable, will deploy software across multiple devices and screen sizes. This will all help ensure that all users can equally use the software that we create.Wellbeing
We are committed to supporting and improving the health and wellbeing of our workforce. We provide staff working on this service provision with a competitive salary, training budget, and internal mentoring, as well as access to wellbeing talks and seminars. This ensures our colleagues feel secure and comfortable in their roles. We also offer a bicycle purchase scheme to help promote physical health and mental wellbeing, and we promote flexible working to support family-friendly working and a healthy work-life balance. Because of our flexible working approach, we are able to encourage all staff to take part in community outreach activities (including charity work, volunteering, and youth mentoring), which helps to promote the wellbeing of both our staff and the communities we serve. Our community outreach activities have also previously seen us offer internship initiatives for young people, where interns join our software development teams to work on projects like this service provision. We work closely with our clients’ staff members to support them in their own roles, notably through providing user guides and technical documentation for the software we support. This reduces stress, boost productivity, and help to ensure that our clients get the best value for money.
