In addition to bespoke, Red Olive has a number of ready-made dashboards for specific organisation types and situations such as for regulated housing providers. These dashboards cover many high-priority business areas such as statutory reporting, financial KPIs, customer and employee experience. Where one of our off-the-shelf dashboards fits a substantial portion of a client's requirements, this greatly reduces implementation time and the planning phase tends to focus on configuration.
Where a bespoke dashboard is to be built, Red Olive works collaboratively to understand the requirements, typically through a discovery engagement. Where KPIs are not yet clearly defined, we help our clients clarify and prioritise them, bringing examples to illustrate the types of approaches that work best when measuring different types of data such as time series, qualitative metrics etc.
We apply our automated estimating tools, developed from many years of successful projects. These enable the comparison of effort and timing across different cloud platforms to pick the optimum for each client. We can provide training for end-users, plus your data and reporting teams on the systems that we implement and a wide range of data matters:
1) We offer interactive, small-group training with a live trainer in the principles of good data visualisation. This does not require any specific software, our course applies the principles of Gestalt psychology, accounts for how the human brain and eye work to interpret the world, and applies this to data interpretation.
2) We provide hands-on training such as reporting skills from beginner to expert level for business users and reporting teams, training in the use of specific visualisation tools such as Microsoft Power BI and other.
3) We also provide training organisation-wide on how to ensure data privacy compliance while maximising use of your organisation's data.
4) We also define target operating models, and this often means we carry out a training needs analysis to identify the skills gaps you face in each future role. We advise what training is need by role, consolidated across all roles, and propose a training plan. Where we have a ready-made dashboard, e.g. for regulated housing providers, this can be provided as a fully hosted turn-key solution which is simply "plumbed in" to your data sources, or deployed on your preferred own-managed cloud.
As described in the planning section, following a discovery and design engagement we can build your bespoke dashboard on a wide range of technologies based on the wireframes created in the design.
Finally, a common approach is a hybrid, in which we apply one of our ready-made dashboards as an accelerator and extend it based on business feedback gathered through shorter, very targeted workshops. - Setup or migration service is for specific cloud services

The starting point for quality assurance of dashboards and reports is the visual wireframe design, from which the report was built. This important document includes both layouts and annotations describing how features work.
Our preference is put a copy of the report into the hands of the person that specificed the dashboard and get them to check it works as they wish. We find this is the most effective way to ensure satisfaction, and it leads to the best business uptake and hence the highest project return on investment.
Another key principle is to keep report testing separate from data testing. By the time a dashboard is being tested, in our approach the data feeding into it has already passed testing and so features and speed of response are the only elements left to test.
