Fighting climate change

IFC undertakes an environmental assessment for each project it undertakes at the start of the project in order to steward environmental responsibility. IFC reviews the environmental impact of its other activities periodically, every six months. Actions to improve the company and reduce our impact are monitored. We consider methods of minimising the use of energy in devices. Examples include ensuring lights are switched off when not required and avoiding leaving devices on stand-by.

As a consultancy, travel is a major factor in the impact upon the environment. IFC encourages the use of public transport, avoiding flight where practical and minimising car journeys. IFC uses recycled goods (such as recycled paper) where possible. IFC also re-uses office materials where practical and takes steps to cut down on waste. We take steps in procuring goods and services to encourage efficiency. An example is buying energy efficient devices. IFC also uses procurement choices to encourage other businesses to be environmentally friendly. Our consultants may work from home. IFC is committed to encouraging staff to be well informed about environmental issues. This can encourage staff to be efficient at home, both in work and domestic situations. IFC remains aware of environmental standards such as ISO 14001 and adopts best practice in as far as it is practical for a small business.

Covid-19 recovery

IFC seeks to ensure that social value considerations are made throughout any project work, as well as being embedded internally within our organisation. It has become clear to us that there is a pressing need to create social value benefits, especially in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Throughout the pandemic, IFC has supported numerous clients faced with challenges relating to working from home. We understand and encourage new ways of working including better collaboration, secure sharing and delivering services remotely.

As a consultancy business, we have seen a big change in the way we do business with customers. Our service delivery model has shifted to better facilitate remote working and delivery - a challenge we were well equipped to tackle through using innovative ways of communicating and collaborating. This first hand experience allows us to help customers in innovative and forward-thinking ways.

The pandemic has placed great strain on people and communities and we have worked closely with our staff to support their physical and mental wellbeing. An example includes regular check-ins and flexibility when facing the disruptions and challenges of working from home.
