New customers receive clear implementation guidance, including configuration support, data import tools and step-by-step onboarding checklists built directly into the platform. Administrators have access to comprehensive online documentation covering setup, module configuration and best-practice workflows. Zelt also provides online training and enablement sessions to ensure teams understand how to configure modules, manage employees and automate processes effectively. In-product guidance, contextual tips and automated onboarding flows help end users get started quickly without relying on formal training. This combination of support, documentation and guided setup ensures organisations can go live smoothly and confidently in whatever way meets their needs.

- End-of-contract data extraction
-
Zelt allows customers to extract their data easily and securely at contract end. Administrators can export all core records - including employee data, documents, payroll information, time-off history and audit logs - directly from the platform using built-in export tools.
Data extraction is completed through the desktop interface, where authorised administrators can access the full set of export tools. From the admin settings area, users can download employee data, documents, payroll records, time-off history and audit logs in structured, machine-readable formats suitable for migration.
Organisations can also use the API to retrieve data programmatically, maintaining full continuity with existing integrations. Exports respect the customer’s permissions and security controls, ensuring only authorised users can initiate them. This approach gives organisations complete control of their information and ensures a smooth transition when offboarding. - End-of-contract process
-
At contract end, customers retain full control of their data and can export it through the desktop admin interface or via the API before access is closed. Zelt provides support during the offboarding period to ensure data extraction is completed smoothly, and customer environments are securely deprovisioned once the process is finished. All customer data is handled in line with strict security and privacy controls throughout termination.
Zelt does not charge additional fees for standard offboarding support. Administrators can export all data directly through the desktop interface or via the API at no extra cost, and Zelt provides guidance during the offboarding period to ensure a smooth and secure transition.
Any specialised professional services requested beyond the standard process would be optional and separately scoped, but routine offboarding and data extraction are included in the contract. - Documentation accessibility standard

- Differences between the mobile and desktop service
-
The mobile app is designed for fast, high-frequency employee and manager tasks, not full administration. Mobile supports actions such as viewing payslips, submitting and approving leave, completing onboarding tasks, reviewing requests and receiving notifications.
The full administrative environment - including configuration, advanced reporting, analytics, bulk actions, IT provisioning and detailed HR management - is available on desktop, where the larger interface supports more complex workflows. All data and permissions remain consistent across both, so admins can still review and act on key items via mobile, while relying on desktop for comprehensive management. - Service interface
- Yes
- User support accessibility
- WCAG 2.2 AA
- Description of service interface
- Users interface with our service through either the desktop or mobile app. The desktop interface delivers the full administrative environment, giving HR, finance and IT teams access to configuration, reporting, analytics, policy management and provisioning tools. It is optimised for complex workflows that benefit from a larger screen. The mobile interface is streamlined for quick employee and manager tasks such as viewing payslips, submitting or approving leave, completing onboarding steps and receiving notifications. Both use the same secure platform and permissions, ensuring a consistent experience tailored to each device. Both interfaces are built with accessibility as part of our design.
- Accessibility standards
- WCAG 2.2 AA
- Accessibility testing
- Zelt incorporates accessibility reviews into its design and QA cycles and validates the interface using both automated and manual testing with assistive technologies. Screens, workflows and interactive components are tested with screen readers such as VoiceOver and NVDA, ensuring correct semantic structure, ARIA attributes and predictable focus behaviour. Keyboard-only navigation is routinely evaluated to confirm all actions can be completed without a mouse. Contrast, scaling and responsive behaviour are checked to support users with visual or motor impairments. Feedback from users with assistive technologies informs iterative improvements, helping maintain alignment with WCAG 2.2 AA expectations across mobile and desktop.
- API
- Yes
- What users can and can't do using the API
-
Zelt’s API enables customers to extend and automate core HR and IT workflows while maintaining strict control over what can be configured programmatically. Users can set up the service by creating and updating employee records, assigning roles, triggering onboarding tasks and connecting external systems through authenticated API calls. They can also make ongoing changes such as updating personal or employment data, managing time-off balances, syncing identity attributes and initiating provisioning actions where applicable.
The API respects the same permission model as the platform, so callers can only access or modify data they are authorised to handle. Certain complex configurations - such as advanced automation rules, custom permissions, payroll settings or deep system-wide preferences - are intentionally managed through the admin interface to preserve data integrity and reduce operational risk. The API is designed for high-confidence integrations, offering structured endpoints for predictable, secure interactions while preventing changes that could compromise organisational configuration.
API documentation is available for developers integrating with our platform also. - API documentation

- Description of customisation
-
Zelt is designed to be highly configurable out of the box, allowing organisations to tailor the platform to their unique processes without requiring bespoke development or any additional fees. Zelt also offers the opportunity to collaborate on custom features and product development where unique tailoring is required for its customers.
What can be customised includes organisational structures (entities, departments, sites, roles and levels), employee profile fields and custom sections, approval workflows, absence and attendance policies, onboarding and offboarding workflows, permission groups, notifications, document templates, reporting views, branding elements, language translations, and integrations via Zelt’s public API. These configuration options allow Zelt to adapt to different operating models, policies and internal processes.
How users can customise is entirely no-code. Configuration is completed directly within the admin interface using guided settings, rules and workflows, with changes applied immediately and governed by permissions and audit trails. Where requirements fall outside standard configuration, Zelt can deliver bespoke custom features or integrations as a scoped engagement at additional cost.
Who can customise is controlled through granular permission groups. Typically, company admins or delegated HR, IT or finance administrators manage configuration, ensuring flexibility while maintaining governance, security and consistency across the organisation.
Scaling
- Independence of resources
-
Zelt ensures users are not impacted by demand from other customers by running the platform on a fully cloud-native, autoscaling infrastructure. Each customer operates within a logically isolated environment, and workloads are distributed across scalable resources that expand automatically during periods of high usage. Core services are containerised and orchestrated to balance load evenly, preventing individual tenants from consuming disproportionate capacity.
Performance monitoring runs continuously, with automated failover and redundancy protecting against bottlenecks or contention. This architecture guarantees consistent response times and service reliability, regardless of how other organisations are using the platform.

- Metrics types
- Zelt provides in-app visibility of key usage metrics for administrators, allowing them to monitor activity across modules without needing to request data. Admins can view information such as onboarding progress, task completion, time-off trends, payroll runs, provisioning actions and general engagement with core workflows. These insights are available directly in the desktop interface, giving teams immediate oversight of how the service is being used. Additional or bespoke reporting can also be provided on request if organisations require deeper analytics beyond the standard metrics.

Availability and resilience
- Guaranteed availability
-
Zelt guarantees high availability through a resilient, cloud-native architecture designed to deliver a consistent and reliable service. The platform operates with an availability commitment of 99.9% uptime, supported by automated scaling, multi–data-centre redundancy and continuous monitoring to prevent or mitigate service disruption. Core services run in isolated, fault-tolerant environments, ensuring that failures in one component do not affect overall platform performance.
If availability falls below the guaranteed level, customers are eligible for service credits in line with Zelt’s SLA, which compensates for periods of downtime and ensures contractual accountability. Credits are applied to future invoices, reducing subscription costs proportionately.
This combination of engineered resilience, proactive monitoring and formal SLA-backed commitments ensures customers can rely on Zelt for uninterrupted HR, IT and payroll operations. - Approach to resilience
-
Zelt is designed for resilience across its application, infrastructure and data layers. The platform runs on a cloud-native architecture with automated scaling, container orchestration and service isolation so individual component issues do not affect overall performance. Continuous monitoring, automated failover and health checks ensure that services recover quickly and maintain stable operation under load or during maintenance events.
Zelt’s datacentre setup is highly resilient, operating across multiple UK data centres with redundancy built into power, networking and cooling systems. Data is replicated within the region to protect against localised failures, and backups are stored in separate availability zones to support rapid disaster recovery. Physical facilities are managed by a certified cloud provider with controls aligned to recognised standards such as CSA CCM and ISO/IEC 27001, ensuring strong asset protection and environmental resilience.
More detailed information on datacentre architecture and resilience controls is available on request under NDA. - Outage reporting
-
Zelt reports outages transparently so administrators are kept fully informed. A public status dashboard provides real-time visibility of service health across all major components, including incident updates and historical availability. During any disruption, Zelt publishes timely notices and progress updates on this dashboard until full resolution.
Email alerts are issued to administrators when incidents are identified, ensuring customers are aware even if they are not actively monitoring the dashboard. For organisations that integrate operational monitoring, outage information can also be accessed programmatically through Zelt’s API, allowing teams to surface status within their own tooling.
This multi-channel approach ensures customers receive clear, prompt communication whenever service availability is affected.

These policies define how data is handled, who can access it, and the controls required to maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability across all environments.
Security governance is overseen by senior leadership, with defined reporting lines for risk, compliance and incident management. Policy adherence is enforced through mandatory employee training, role-based access controls, logging and audit reviews, and automated monitoring to detect deviations. Regular assessments, including external penetration testing and internal audits, validate ongoing compliance.

Vulnerabilities are identified through continuous scanning of code, containers and infrastructure, supported by dependency monitoring and automated alerting. Findings are triaged based on severity, exploitability and potential business impact, with critical issues addressed promptly through our secure development and change-management processes.
External CREST-approved penetration testing supplements internal scanning to validate controls and uncover complex issues. Remediation actions are tracked to completion, and recurring reviews ensure fixes remain effective. This approach ensures Zelt’s vulnerability management aligns with the government’s Operational Security principles. - Protective monitoring type
- Complies with a recognised standard, for example CSA CCM v4.0 or SSAE-18 / ISAE 3402
- Protective monitoring approach
-
Zelt’s protective monitoring processes align with recognised industry standards through its ISO/IEC 27001–certified cloud infrastructure, supporting the government’s Operational Security principle. Monitoring covers application, API and infrastructure layers, with continuous logging of authentication events, configuration changes, administrative actions and system behaviour. Automated alerts detect anomalies, misuse, or indicators of compromise, and logs are retained securely for investigation and audit.
Events are correlated to identify patterns or emerging risks, and the security team reviews alerts and escalations according to defined incident-response procedures. External penetration testing complements monitoring to ensure effectiveness. This approach provides strong, standards-aligned oversight of the entire service. - Incident management type

Common scenarios such as authentication issues, service degradation, data-access anomalies and infrastructure alerts have established runbooks to ensure rapid, consistent handling. Users can report incidents through the support portal or email, where cases are logged, prioritised and escalated based on impact and severity. During an incident, Zelt provides timely updates via direct communication and the public status dashboard. After resolution, administrators receive an incident report outlining impact, root cause, actions taken and preventive measures, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.
