Onboarding and offboarding

Getting started
NixInfinity-AI would set up an implementation team to assess the existing structure and processes required for a successful transition. This would then shape the training requirements to include onsite and/or online training, with user documentation.

Using the service

Web browser interface
Yes
Using the web interface
Through the AWS Management Console web interface, users can set up a wide range of AWS services. This involves defining key parameters like instance type, storage options, and security configurations. The interface provides a guided workflow to simplify service creation.

Users can also modify most service settings through the console. This allows scaling resources up or down, adjusting security policies, and managing billing preferences.

However, the web interface may not offer granular control over every aspect of a service. For highly customised configurations or complex deployments, users might need to utilise AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) or infrastructure as code tools.

Using the command line interface
Users can be very hands-on with AWS service setup using the command line interface (AWS CLI). The AWS CLI allows you to provision resources, configure settings, and launch services - all through commands. Once a service is running, you can use the CLI to make adjustments, update configurations, and even terminate resources.

However, the CLI doesn't handle everything. For complex configurations or services with graphical interfaces, some initial setup might require the web console. Additionally, the CLI won't handle uploading certain content types (like images for S3 buckets) that require a web interface.

Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
AWS provides 99.99% availability.
Approach to resilience
AWS builds resiliency across multiple layers:
01. Infrastructure: Redundant power, cooling, and geographically isolated Availability Zones (AZs) minimise impact from hardware failures.
02. Networking: Multiple internet connections and geographically distributed data centres ensure service availability during outages.
03. Services: Designed with redundancy, allowing automatic failover to healthy resources if a service component fails.
04. Software: Frequent updates and rigorous testing aim to ensure software robustness and minimise security vulnerabilities.
Outage reporting
01. Public Dashboard: The AWS Health Dashboard provides a real-time status of all AWS services. It displays any ongoing service interruptions and historical information for the past year.
02. Email Alerts: AWS doesn't offer general email alerts for outages. However, if you're subscribed to AWS Service Notifications, you can configure alerts for specific services and receive notifications for significant service disruptions.

Description of energy efficient datacentres
While not formally participating in the EU's voluntary program, AWS data centers implement many best practices outlined in the EU Code of Conduct for Energy Efficient Datacenters.

These include:
01. Facility Optimisation: AWS data centres use efficient cooling systems, airflow management, and power distribution methods to minimise energy use.
02. Server Optimisation: High-performance components in AWS servers allow them to do more work with less energy.
03. IT Management: Server virtualisation consolidates workloads and improves server utilisation, reducing overall energy consumption.
04. Metrics and Monitoring: AWS continuously monitors and measures data centre energy use to identify areas for improvement.

Fighting climate change

At NixInfinity-AI, fighting climate change is embedded in our company culture. We believe in minimising our environmental footprint, and we start from within.

We offer fully remote and hybrid work options, drastically reducing the need for unnecessary commutes and the associated carbon emissions. This flexibility not only benefits the environment, but also promotes work-life balance and attracts top talent.

Our low-carbon headquarters utilises solar energy to power a significant portion of its operations, further reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. Additionally, our "electric-first" vehicle policy ensures that company cars are electric, whenever possible.

We actively challenge the need for unnecessary travel within our contracts, prioritising sustainable options like public transport and electric vehicles whenever travel is essential.

Covid-19 recovery

The Covid-19 pandemic presented unprecedented obstacles, but through resilience and innovation, we persevered through them. We are also proud of our team's dedication and adaptability during these challenging times. As we move forward, we continue to offer fully remote roles to maximise the flexibility offered to our staff and ensure we are not excluding those for whom in-person roles represent a real risk (either from Covid or other diseases), such as the immune-compromised.

Tackling economic inequality

We believe in a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. That's why we take a multifaceted approach to tackling economic inequality:

By collaborating with a diverse range of small organizations, tapping into their expertise, and fostering inclusive growth. Additionally, we invest a portion of our earnings in promising startups and enterprises, fuelling their potential to create new businesses and high-value jobs.

We offer fully remote roles, breaking down geographic barriers and ensuring that location doesn't limit opportunity. This allows individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those residing in deprived areas with limited access to traditional workspaces, to contribute and thrive.

We go beyond simply hiring – we actively invest in our employees' skillsets. We offer comprehensive role-specific training programs that bridge skills gaps and lead to recognised industry qualifications, creating a pathway for career advancement regardless of background.

The advocation for inclusive practices throughout our ecosystem support our clients in creating and recruiting skilled roles and recommend ongoing professional development activities for their new hires. Additionally, we consciously source goods and services from a diverse range of suppliers, including startups and agencies, fostering a thriving and inclusive business landscape.

By working together, we can create a future where everyone has the tools and opportunities needed to succeed, regardless of their socioeconomic background.

Equal opportunity

We are an equal opportunities employer. We do not discriminate on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age.

We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all staff and job applicants. We aim to create a working environment in which all individuals can make the best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment, and in which all decisions are based on merit.

Those working at a management level have a specific responsibility to set an appropriate standard of behaviour, to lead by example and to ensure that those they manage adhere to the policies and procedures and promote our aims and objectives concerning equal opportunities.

NixInfinity-AI complies with the Equality Act 2010 regarding current UK anti-discrimination legislation.

Wellbeing

We recognise the importance of employee wellbeing. Our directors, aware of the significant impact of poor mental health on individuals and the organisation, champion initiatives that support a healthy and positive work environment.

We actively strive to identify staff in need of additional support through open communication, proactive measures, and confidential resources. To support this, we believe in fostering strong community connections, which is why we involve users and communities heavily in service design and delivery (where applicable), creating a sense of belonging and shared purpose.

By prioritising employee wellbeing and cultivating a collaborative, supportive environment, we empower our team to thrive both personally and professionally, ultimately delivering exceptional value to our customers and communities.
