End-of-contract data extraction
The process involves migrating your dedicated Azure storage account from our tenancy to yours.

Steps are as follows:
1.
Take a snapshot of the storage account in case something goes wrong during the move.
2.
We create a new PAYG subscription and transfer the Storage account to that subscription.
3.
We change the owner (tenant) of that PAYG subscription to you.
You can then run your own on premises version of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 to continue backing up, or to merely access past backups you can use the free Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Community Edition.
End-of-contract process
This service offers a unique exit strategy when offboarding a customer from VDC. Veeam do not ransom the data and it can be made available upon request to the customer. All offboarding costs below are estimates based on Azure’s current pricing for UK regions.

The service is set up Veeam via an application registration with the customer's M365 Global Admin. A VDC token issued during the onboarding session and then authenticated by the customer, then the environment is deployed automatically.

The users have the capability to perform the following tasks:
- Create and customise backup jobs
- Perform restorations quickly and easily
- Advanced search capability through eDiscovery tool
- Analytics to interrogate
- Security configuration via RBAC component
- Configure backup jobs in different geo locations and different retention policies

Only limitation is there is no API integration to date. This will change 2024 Q3.

As standard within Veeam Data Cloud, all data is encrypted at rest using 256-bit encryption. Backup storage is encrypted both with the built in Azure Storage 256-bit AES encryption and the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 engine 256-bit AES encryption.

Data in Azure Storage is encrypted and decrypted transparently using 256-bit AES encryption, one of the strongest block ciphers available, and is FIPS 140-2 compliant. Azure Storage encryption is similar to BitLocker encryption on Windows.

Veeam Data Cloud utilises Role Based Access Control permissions. These permissions provide you with the ability to give granular access to the environment, including what data can be accessed.

Each customer has their own storage account encrypted with a key unique to the customer. These storage accounts have private IP’s and are not exposed to the public internet. Every call to VDC is authenticated and authorized to confirm the user has permission to access the data being requested.

On VDC, fortnightly sprints are carried out to ensure the product is enhanced to the highest standard possible. When these sprints are completed any required patches/updates are applied.  

If urgent security patches are required, they will be applied as soon as possible.

VDC is monitored with Azure monitor as well as CrowdStrike Falcon complete Advanced Threat Detection and Remediation software in all its Azure tenancies to detect and isolate threat actors. Penetration testing is performed every 6 months.

CDW is committed to fighting climate change and protecting the environment. CDW has made a commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2040, 10 years earlier than mandated by the UK government. To achieve this, CDW has implemented (and continues to implement) initiatives to reduce our emissions and carbon footprint, all of which are underpinned by CDW’s ISO14001 certified Environmental Management System (EMS) and our beGreen program.

CDW’s distribution centre and our flagship offices hold ISO 14001 environmental management certifications, with our UK distribution centre also holding REGO energy certifications. In parallel with our EMS and beGreen program, CDW has invested in and implemented a range of initiatives to help tackle our contribution towards climate change across our operational activities. These initiatives include (but are not limited to):

-Solar panel usage. As a result, in 2021, we were able to achieve 100% renewable energy sourcing for CDW-owned buildings.
-Energy-efficient lighting solutions, including indoor and outdoor LED lighting.
-Motion sensor lighting and conveyor systems that turn off in response to inactivity.
-Water consumption solutions, including rainwater harvesting efforts.
-“Smart” HVAC systems that adjust according to business hours and seasonal temperatures.
-A ‘Pin to Print’ program enabling enhanced print queue management to reduce wasted print jobs
-A goal to achieve 100% renewable energy sourcing for electricity by 2027. In 2021, 98% of electricity consumed in the UK was from renewable sources.
