Fighting climate change

To ensure our G-Cloud 14 contracts generate additional environmental benefits, SNCMSUK will agree Contract Social Value Action Plans with G-Cloud 14 customers during contract startup. The plans will set achievable targets and include the monitoring of relevant metrics during the life of the contract to prove the delivery of additional environmental benefits.
During contract startup, SNCMSUK will seek out and engage with a diverse range of organisations who will be able support the delivery of additional environmental benefits during the life of the contract.
On contract, additional environmental benefits will be delivered by expanding the reach of the customer’s and SNCMSUK’s existing initiatives, and by launching new joint initiatives. SNCMSUK will work with the customer to extend both parties’ influence on their employees, suppliers, subcontractors, educational establishments, and other key partners through contract-based campaigns.
The focus of the contract-based campaigns will be on direct action, rather than offsetting. Likely themes include: 1)Accelerating reductions in emissions, by encouraging staff to use our electric car scheme and installing EV charging points at St Athan. 2)Increasing the percentage of reuse and recycling of waste, to exceed pre-contract targets. 3)Increasing the use of hybrid working models to reduce the number of individual journeys made by all staff, increase the use of remote/online communications and use of public transport by staff /customers to get to our Bristol office. 4)Increasing the number of hours spent protecting and improving the environment under the contract. 5)Increasing the number of green spaces created. 6)Working with academia (Cardiff and University of South Wales) and technology partners (Centerprise International) on climate threat horizon scanning, to identify potential risks and new green and sustainable technologies.
Full details of all SNCMSUK’s current social value initiatives and action plans will be provided to customers on acceptance of contact.

Tackling economic inequality

To ensure our G-Cloud 14 contracts deliver additional reductions in economic inequality, SNCMSUK will agree Contract Social Value Action Plans with G-Cloud 14 customers during contract startup. The plans will set achievable targets and regular reviews of relevant metrics to monitor the delivery of reductions in economic inequality on contract.
Success will depend significantly on entrepreneurship, growth and strong business relationships which will generate employment, education and training. This will build a resilient and capable supply chain that uses a skilled workforce to implement G-Cloud 14 contracts and contributes to the Government’s digital levelling up strategy.
During contract startup, SNCMSUK will reach out to its suppliers, subcontractors, educational establishments and other key partners to discuss how they can contribute to reducing economic inequality during the life of the contract.
On contract, reductions in economic inequality will be delivered by expanding the customer’s and SNCMSUK’s existing initiatives, and by launching new joint initiatives.
SNCMSUK’s current initiatives include: 1)Creating additional high-value jobs in the UK, in Bristol and St Athan. 2)Expanding partnerships with academic institutions, creating student work placements with Swansea University and the University of South Wales. 3)Upskilling and further education for current employees, including USW MSc courses. 4)When acquiring equipment and SQEP for the contract, we place an agreed minimum percentage of total spend with UK-based SME supply chain partners – typically 25%. 5)Working with organisations such as TechUK and MakeUK/MakeUK Defence to identify UK-based suppliers to be included in our G-Cloud supplier ecosystem. 6)Exploring the scope to introduce new technologies into SNCMSUK’s G-Cloud service delivery. This builds greater resilience in the supply chain by maximising the opportunity for suppliers to be involved in delivering G-Cloud contracts.
Full details of all SNCMSUK’s current social value initiatives and action plans will be provided to customers on acceptance of contact.

Equal opportunity

To ensure our G-Cloud 14 contracts deliver more equal opportunities, SNCMSUK will agree Contract Social Value Action Plans with G-Cloud 14 customers during contract startup. The plans will set achievable targets and regular reviews of relevant metrics to monitor the delivery of equal opportunities on contract. SNCMSUK’s workforce and supply chain possesses a unique blend of SQEP, skills and perspectives who understand the intricacies of the defence/public sector.
Throughout its G-Cloud contracts, SNCMSUK will: 1) Follow a risk-based process to understand the extent of equality in the workforce and our G-Cloud supply chain. 2)Enforce its Equal Opportunities Policy, which asserts that every employee or self-employed contractor is entitled to dignity and respect from all and that no form of intimidation, bullying or harassment is tolerated. 3)Run a fair and rigorous recruitment process. Our trained personnel use a structured, competency and skills-based approach in all our recruitment and promotion interviews. 4)Pay all staff above local and national minimum wage levels and ensure all employees are able to choose appropriate workplace representation, including membership of trade unions. 5)Through our onboarding and supplier relationship management processes, ensure that the supply chain we engage with is free from inequality, committed to the abolition of slavery and human trafficking, acts ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and implements and enforces effective systems and controls. 6)Require that suppliers declare their compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 during our procurement onboarding process. This is checked during supplier due diligence visits. Any suppliers failing to meet this requirement are not permitted to continue in our procurement process. 7)Work with key suppliers to ensure they are providing a real living wage for their employees.
Full details of all SNCMSUK’s current social value initiatives and action plans will be provided to customers on acceptance of contact.
