AWS incorporate sustainability into data center design to provide efficient resilient services while minimising environmental impact.
AWS focus on efficiency across all aspects of their infrastructure, this is done through applying the efficiency of scale, along with predicting and modelling performance. AWS have invested in innovative new AWS chips that use 60% less energy. And through the use of real-time sensor data they are optimising cooling systems to support operation environmental controls and reduce overall energy use.
AWS are commited to reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2040, including the aim to be 100% powered from renewable energy by 2025. In 2022, 90% of the electricity consumed by Amazon was attributable to renewable energy sources.
This use of power from renewable resources such as wind and solar projects, also supports hundreds of jobs, providing hundreds of millions of dollars of investment in local communities.
