SNCMSUK have appointed a local Environmental Lead who has produced an environmental policy outlining actions that include reducing CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gases. This policy includes how we will apply the UK’s Greenhouse Gas reporting categories of Scope 1, 2, and 3 (i.e. both internal and supply chain activities) for identifying solutions. These include using renewable sources of energy, reducing travel miles for goods, materials, and services, and applying reuse/recycle principles to existing hardware. Additionally, SNCMSUK shall build partnerships with organisations to transform urban areas by contributing to well-established projects focused on creating green spaces and promoting biodiversity. In this undertaking, SNCMSUK fulfils its function as a steward of the environment for the benefit of communities in the UK and across the globe.
Covid-19 recovery

COVID-19 has heightened human suffering, undermined the economy, turned the lives of billions of people around the globe upside down, and significantly affected the health, economic, environmental and social domains. SNCMSUK ensures that both its staff and suppliers rights are utmost priorities within SNC’s ethos to allow every employee to feel comfortable and represented in the work place. SNCMS-UK policies include equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, anti-bribery and corruption, and a supplier code of conduct which all goes to assist and Support people and communities to manage and recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
SNCMS-UK’s approach to creating employment, re-training and other return to work opportunities for those left unemployed by COVID-19, particularly new opportunities in high growth sectors, includes our strong commitment to hiring military veterans, with 70% of its workforce comprised of ex-military, including many disabled veterans. Also, as part of its commitment to creating new jobs and upskilling the local workforce, SNCMSUK is partnered with the University of Cardiff, including its National Software Academy and is currently sponsoring an applied software engineering dissertation in UAS lifecycle management. Tackling economic inequality

Tackling economic inequality

SNCMSUK has an ethos of continuous improvement and learning. Through this programme, we will create high-value jobs locally and continue its partnerships with academic institutions including Lincoln University and South Wales (Cardiff University), as well as sourcing UK-based supply chain partners. By localising service delivery using reliable UK partners, many of whom are already familiar to SNCMSUK, we will build resilience into our supply chain to provide ongoing assurance to the Authority. By building and retaining an extensive skills base in the UK that harnesses our reputation for innovation in the defence sector, a resilient, responsive, and productive supply chain shall develop, benefiting the Authority on this and future programmes.

We value our employees and our sub-contractors’ employees and ensure every element of service delivery for all UK programs comply with the five foundational principles of good work (satisfaction, fair pay, participation and progression, well-being, safety and security, voice and autonomy).

SNCMSUK is an equal opportunity employer with over 75% of its team being ex-military/veterans and has a well-managed human resources department that ensures compliance with all UK laws, encourages diversity in its hiring practices and workforce worldwide.
Wellbeing

Wellbeing

SNCMSUK emphasises members’ rights to trade union membership and worker representation to candidates prior to officially offering them the role as SNCMSUK recognises trade unions in the workplace for collective bargaining purposes and ensures that workers have access to Union representation/membership should they wish to take advantage of the extra protection this can afford them. Team SNC’s existing unions include MakeUK. Our approach to the wellbeing of our staff extends beyond company induction and mandatory training, with regular email bulletins from management and monthly team meetings reinforce the message that reporting and escalating potential or real incidents of inequality is an obligation under company policy and that staff experience no negative repercussions for doing so.
